Do you masticate the food before giving to your LO?

Anonymous
Hmm, I have done this before. I generally don't but sometimes I present him a finger food and he has some serious texture issues and won't eat it solid. I get frustrated and chew a few pieces and then he snarfs them because he prefers purees. He's 18 mos. It's stuff like squash usually. It's pretty rare, but I think I have done it 2-3 times. I am not grossed by this, but I don't generally do it either. No judgment. I think moms around here can be really uptight. I also still breastfeed my child before bed. OMGGASPEWWW. You should ask questions like this at Mothering.com if you don't want the uptight brigade to freak out at you.

I wonder if this is a cultural thing? I have some hispanic relatives who do this--I've never heard of any one else doing it. I figure it's their business, not mine.
