Do you masticate the food before giving to your LO?

Ok OP, I'll bite (ha ha). Educate me - why would you do this? What are the benefits? Point me to some research that shows the advantages. I'm interested in this.

PP, you should read the article before posting...

Like I said before, you will only pass an infection if you have it. If you're a healthy adult who keeps up with your hygiene habits there's nothing to worry about like spreading diseases.

You mean you can't pass along an infection you DON'T have? Really? I had no idea.

Damn, I can't find the video, but SNL did a skit about this once. Hilarious. http://snltranscripts.jt.org/99/99lbird.phtml

Probably 3 and still BFing.

Am I the only one around who helps my LO to get table food in a more baby friendly way?

Not to mention I also pass along probiotics, antibodies, enzymes... I though we all did this...

Please don't do this in public or everyone around you will be vomiting. Zap in microwave to make it soft enough so you can mash with a fork. I can't begin to tell you how gross and disgusting this sounds. Try being really gross and disgusting, just chew with your mouth open and let food dribble into child's mouth.

I'm sorry for being so obvious. The PP was having a very hard time understanding the issue so I tried to be a little more didactic.

The nastiness, prejudice and judgment inside you all is shameful.

I completely understand if you use different techniques and we're all free to pick what works best for our families but we have no right to jest others for their choices.

What kind of human beings are we bringing up if this is the kind of values we're passing on? What a shame!

You do realize that you can brush your teeth and still get cavities, right? And that you can have an infection before tooth decay sets in?

Where did you get your DDS?

One doesn't need a DDS to know how to take care of their own oral hygiene.

I grew up brushing my teeth after every meal and going for cleaning/check ups every 6 months. We're all very healthy and our dentist always comments on how well my children do taking care of their teeth.

Anyway between life long food intolerance/allergy and a cavity or two I'd definitely pick the second option. Good thing that so far we got none of them all.

We simply give our baby table food that is consistent with the number and location of teeth he has. If he's not ready to pick it up and chew it, then we don't think he should eat it. Maybe you could try that instead of chewing it up for him?

Thanks for your suggestion but we're not searching for options right now. This approach has worked very well for us so far. I was just curious about what others did.

Either a troll or you need to adjust your meds.

Amen to this! I don't do what the OP does but who am I to judge her and her choices. We should all know that what works for us and our LOs doesn't necessarily work for others and vice versa.

I think this might just be one of the grossest things I have ever read on DCUM. I have nothing else to say.

Please, she asked, and expressed disbelief that not everyone does this. What the heck did she think was going to happen? If was can;t laugh at this, what can we laugh at?

Didactic! Using big words doesn't make you any more convincing.

I didn't have a hard time understanding the issue - I understand perfectly well that one can have an infection without displaying symptoms. And that one can have tooth decay even with routine brushing and flossing.
