This. As a non-Asian, it boggled my mind that my Asian friend from college would attract guys from all races - white, black, asian, indian etc. We would joke that racism aside, this is where every guy could meet in the middle. Ha!

What this thread has taught me:

if you are an attractive Asian woman, you will be excused by straight men for whatever driving travesty you may commit (e.g., driving cautiously at the speed limit, for example) . However, you will also arouse the jealous wrath of all non-Asian straight women in the form of racist comments.

My dad left my mom for an asian woman he met in China online. She is 32 and they are getting married now. I just got married a little while ago. I dont get it and probably never will. She is very nice but I dont see why all these older white men flock to asian women. Not being racist at all, this is an observation I have made recently.

Anyways, my step mom will be a few years older than me...weird huh!

Asians cannot drive!! They have lower fatality rates is the US because there are fewer Asian drivers than white drivers.

I think anyone who was born and raised in a different country has the potential to drive in a manner that some of us would consider 'bad" simply because it is different. I once read/heard someone saying one of the problems with driving in D.C. is you get such a mix of people. You get rude "cut you off to save a second" notherners. You get "I'm going to ignore it's my turn because its nicer to let the other person go first' southerners. And you get a very diverse mix of people from other countries -that grew up with different rules, different roads and even different speed limits. Lets face it - probably every one of us is considered a bad driver by someone else.

I think this is a good point. You can't say all Asians drive badly because I bet all the Asians that grew up in the US drive like non-Asians that grew up here. In my experience, the worst drivers are ancient old men and women of any race, young males of any race and the previously mentioned whit balding male in a sports car.

I believe this is because the Asian drivers obliviously cause the accidents then just keep on driving.... never even knowing the chaos they were responsible for.

Eh, I'm not the poster who you are responding to. I personally don't think any such observations are "racist." However, "data" aside, I can tell you my observations from driving around the DC metro area:

The worst drivers in terms of slow drivers, drivers who turn the wrong way, merge lanes w/o warning and just are generally oblivious are AT LEAST 90% of the time Asian.

The worst drivers in terms of aggressive, driving too fast, hostile, aggressive are almost always white, males in pick-up or sports cars, with pick-ups having the edge.

That said, anyone who drives slower than me is a moron and anyone who drives faster than me is a maniac. At least that's something I heard once and has always stuck ith me.
