I'm guessing that none of these holier than thou posters have ever gone over the speed limit, coasted through a stop sign, or attempted to get child rate at the movies, or any number of other little white dishonesties.

Public education in the school district in which you live. By some of the reasoning on this thread, it would be all right if you simply throw people out of their homes and you and your family take over. You want better schools then work with your school board and stop waiting for everyone else to do the work you should be doing to have better schools in your district. Too many parents are simply lazy and do nothing and expect to get everything handed to them. That isn't the way it works. There are rules and if you break them then there are consequences. If you can't do the time then don't do the crime.

Your house is your property and you own it. On the other hand, public school is not your personal property, so please stop giving the impression that you own it. Every citizen is entitled to get the same level of education no matter what socioeconomic class they belong to. And if the government and state have failed to offer a uniform education throughout the state/country, then hell yeah parents do have right to get their kids attend the school of their choice whether they live in that area or not. State/US government is at a bigger mistake than the 'liar' parents.

You are confusing Democracy with Communism. Why don't you move to China?

Wow! I am impressed by what a shitty American you are. You need to read some Toqueville and get with the program, or move to some third-world Hobbsian shit-hole. Seriously; love it or leave it.

Not sure which post PP is refering to

The law is not unjust unless you are in an already crowded school subjected to people who aren't supposed to be there. But those who get caught are fined and given jail time for breaking the law knowingly and willingly. That is the way of this world - would you rather live in a third world country? That is what you are contributing to.

If one school is nearly empty, and one school is unnecessarily overcrowded, what is "right" about that, in your misconstrued world?

In fact, I think there are rewards for turning people in. If not, there should be. I would fund it myself. Boy, doesn't THAT get your hackles up. Thought no one would find out, didn't you?

As for ignorant PP, there is ONLY diversity in my school. Does that make it NOT diverse?

You are calling people ignorant? Funny your last point about diversity makes no sense.

What do you mean by "only diversity"? That does not make sense. I'm not sure if you know the definition of diversity (hint: it doesn't mean everything non-white).

I haven't read the whole thread, but my father used to be a board office employee who tracked down the district line jumpers. This was in a northeastern county in MD, so not DC area.

On one hand, I do feel for someone who is trying to get her kids into a better school using their father's (isn't that the case?) address in a better school district. But it IS still fraud.

I am not past reporting them, because it is illegal and our schools are crowded enough as it is. Besides the fact that it negates the census efforts and those who answer it, leaving legitimate residents with inadequate resources.

There are huge fines when you get caught, and you are pretty much watched forever. I am not above reporting anyone at all, and my neighbors would report too. Why should I or the honest neighbors have to pay for extra people clogging the system? We sacrificed a ton to live here. Sorry, sometimes that is what life entails. There is nothing "good" about breaking the law, basically lying and stealing so you can get better than what you want to actually pay for. This should not be okay with anyone. Helping someone out legitimately is one thing, but being in collusion to break the law is quite another.

FCPS once audited Spring Hill's addresses and cleaned out about 50 to 70 kids I was told. Maryland plates?

A well educated child is better for our entire society. An involved parent who wants better for her child and who will do anything so her child can get a good education is better for our entire society. This is what we WANT. How can you be "so successful" and so stupid when it comes to what is best for society and everyone as a whole?

Oh yea, and you "hard workers" who work "so hard" to live in your excellent school district, you are a product of luck and involved parents. My housekeeper and nanny work much harder than me and will never be able to make the income I make. Hey, and guess what? I let my nanny use my address so her brown kid can go to my excellent local public school. She is from over the border in Prince William county all muddying up my Faifrax school. All I hope for is that her kid gets a head start so he can have a better life than her.

One wonders if being able to speak and write English correctly is a prerequisite for this "hig-paying" job of yours? Obviously not. Perhaps you should take some classes with your nanny. Prince William actually has a good school system and is now one of the highest income counties in the US.

We worked to educate our children and it had nothing to do with luck or being born with a silver spoon in our mouths. It had everything to do with values and damn hard work. You might try this. In fact, we worked hard enough to educate our children in private schools but I still pay taxes for public schools and I have no problem with this because an educated child is a benefit to the community. However, this doesn't mean that every child in VA can attend school in Fairfax County schools.

Prince William is the rectum of NoVA. It is a toilet bowl, it is where strip malls go to die. Manasshole, Hoodbridge...the only good thing in PWC is IKEA and even then College Park is cleaner.

How many parents of these "cleaned out" kid received felony convictions? I'm betting ZERO. This felony just ruined a whole family, simply because a mom wanted what is best for her kids.
I'm okay with a fine, but a felony?

They need to do this in Arlington. I refuse to believe 3 additional K classes were warranted at our elem. school in the last 3 years. We are now up to 5. It is one of the schools everyone wants in. 70 kids is well-over 3 classes.

DCUM Rules for those with whom you do not agree, especially if you have a good idea they have the ability to do something about the issue at hand:

First resort: name calling.

Second resort: character attack.

Third: close blinds, check outside windows, you may be next.
