Dane has a reputation of shopping around. He applied for the Prep job.
In my view, I think he has done a great job at GC in elevating their program. Their JV squad went undefeated this spring and the varsisty squad had sound victories over SJC and Gonzaga. Falcons also played Landon and Bullis extremely tightly. There is depth in Good Counsel's program, finally, which was not the case just 3 seasons ago. The future is bright in Olney, I don't see Dane leaving unless the new AD is going to de-emphasize the program, which I don't see happening. |

He just had a zoom telling folk he applied. He has been great a recruiting but treated numerous kids pretty poorly and wants more of a commitment (eg money) from GC. The turnover on the team the last few years was fairly high with kids quitting or tranferring. His JV went undefeated two years in a row though.

| He is gone if he gets the job in Potomac, but that is a very big if |
This seems strange. Isn’t he the director of admissions? Surprised he still has a job after that zoom. |

| Is the STAB coach going to Bullis? |
You are clueless |
| Not buying Dane had a zoom meeting with his current team to tell them “hey guys just so you know I applied for the Bullis job” |

| Nic bell from STAB to Bullis |
Bell has a good thing going at STAB. Small, quiet town, nice school for his kids, and a relatively easy path to a state championship every year as long as he can keep 3*'s coming in. I'd be surprised if he left that for Bullis, but you never know. It's no secret that at least a few local parents don't love him and what he's doing with the program there. It would also put him in the middle of the IAC, and potentially beating up on EHS - where his Madlax cohort's son goes. That's probably not high on his list of concerns though. |
A VISAA State Championship is nice but there is little competition in the state other than PVI, Blue Ridge and Episcopal and St Chris from Richmond. I do agree with you that Bell has a very good gig at STAB and he only been there for 3 seasons so it would be odd to leave so soon. STAB offers boarding while Bullis does not. |
Not for nothing, while you're correct that VISAA is pretty thin in terms of competition, so are the IAC and WCAC. The championship was between two teams that were better than anything in the DMV this year, and STAB was at least very competitive if not better than anything in Maryland. As someone else noted, they board and he clearly can recruit, so doubtful there's a big drop off for the foreseeable future. A few parents upset that their kids aren't playing won't alter that, especially if those recruits go on to high academic programs, which every school administrator likes to use to puff their profiles to prospective students and their full pay parents, and the donors. |
