| A lot of transfer movement this summer, especially for the class of 2028. I don’t remember there ever being this many junior transfers. I think of 5-6 just from Gonzaga and SJC. |
He did go to Landon but years ago. |
To my knowledge, and this is coming from my son, a few SJC 2028's have transferred out. Some are transferring to Landon, Gonzaga, and Bullis, and back to their public. I also heard a few kids from Gonzaga have transferred out to PVI. Again, not sure what is fact vs fiction. |
| One of the SJ 28s left last year too and add PVI to that list. |
The volume of high school transferring is really odd. Getting close to the college transfer portal. |

Ones I know of for 28s:
SJC A to PVI SJC A to Landon Gonzaga D to PVI. I have also heard speculation of two more Gonzaga to PVI players and one more SJC to Bullis player but that seems less clear. |
Some of it could also be VA kids tired of doing that brutal commute to SJC or Gonzaga. PVI may be logistically easier coupled with the fact PVI lost almost whole starting lineup. Could be great path to get more time on field |
Agree. College portal has destigmatized the process. Also, there seems to be a mismatch of understanding on potential playing time across some recent classes. Overall, the phenomenon is remarkable when you think of school spirit and commitment, academics, high school social relationships, family connections, etc. One thing I have noticed with my kid, is that there is much more of a broader lacrosse community feel between schools than in decades past. Something about social media connections, playing on clubs together, and showcases, that seems to dull the rivalries, and make it feel like a big group of friends. Not a sociologist, but there is something going on there. When I tell my friends in their 40s and 50s about transfers to and from Gonzaga or Landon from rivals, they are in disbelief, and talk about people being ostracized permanently if they pulled that in the old days. |
| I believe PVI has at least 5 new players coming in from classes of 28 and 29 based on what I have heard. |
+100 Kids are just built these days differently. They want instant gratification and parents are insane. |
| Basketball and football transferring at high rates has been common for several years now. This is filtering down in lacrosse now. Understandable given how the system is set up and programs are now run, but I do think something is lost when this becomes commonplace. |
It's not the commute. These are 28's, so they've been doing the commuting for a couple years already. If it was that big of an issue, they would have transferred before now. We all know kids who do/will commute hours for a great program. It's likely the coaching and/or culture (which are usually closely related). Look closely at the schools with a higher than average # of transfers and you'll find a common denominator...coaching and/or culture (or lack thereof). |
Also usually they didn’t get the playing time they expected. SJC is loaded with college commitments, so most kids wait until Junior year to get real time. Some kids don’t agree with that wait. |
Really! Line out the door. No private school is easy to get into anymore! They are all full! |
| Bullis have a coach yet? |
