2035, 2034, 2033 Girls

Yeah BLC. Opportunist. Can’t fault them.

Had this been the older years where a National Championship was at stake, this would absolutely not fly.

I’m sorry reading comprehension is hard for you. Tie breaker rules are pretty clear.

1. Teams will be seeded by their record according to the following formula (percentage):
[#Wins + 0.5*#Ties)/(#Wins +
#Losses + #Ties)]

2. Head to Head Competition (if there is a three way tie in head to head competition, that tiebreaker is thrown out).

Legends 4-4
BLC 4-4
MD DC 4-4

That is a three way tie. And two teams didnt play each other so there isnt head to head. Which brings us to:

3. Goals allowed vs. in-division opponents

Legends 43 GA
BLC 58 GA
MD DC 85 GA

So that is the tie-breaker. And how it was originally scored. Legends was 7, BLC was 8 and MD DC was 9th. Until someone cried that they wanted to be in the playoffs and NGLL changed the rules for one division but not any others.

Wait you claimed an NGLL fix in favor of M&D DC 2034 without even looking up, understanding or applying the tie breaker rules to see if they were correctly applied? Delete your account.

I stand corrected. How did they change the rules? What was the basis for the complaint? The rationale for the change?

Who got left out then or did they expand the playoff pool?

I’m not an M&D person and agree you have to follow the rules as set but it is a little stupid to have M&D DC beat both those teams but not get in over them in a 3-way tie.

I actually agree with you, the way the rules are written is somewhat dumb. But the divisions have gotten big and teams can't all play each other (see the 35 bracket mess) and so these are the rules NGLL created to try to create some sense of overall fairness. It does mean sometimes teams (like in this case M&D DC) get the short end of the stick. But if there was a third head to head, there wouldn't have been a three-way tie to begin with (BLC or Legends would have either 5-3 or 3-5 or 4-3-1 3-4-1). Rules are rules people. You can't just change them because you think they are dumb.

I don't have a daughter on any of these teams, but that is crazy!! The rules specifically state 3 way tie throws out head to head. How can the NGLL possibly justify that? It just makes a case for being a bad sport parent!! Just be a Karen and get what you want!!!

I have a friend on Legends. I heard that they published the brackets having the [correct] standings. Then just updated the brackets after the M&D DC complaint and reposted without contacting any of the relevant coaches. That is so unprofessional. Additionally, M&D DC bumped themselves to be above Legends so they are now #7 and don't have to play HOCO. We should all just call the NGLL and say our team wins.

Great example to set for the kids!

2035 needed an RPI!

A statistician could figure it out but it likely looks like this:

1. MDU East
2. Rebels
3. Coppermine Black
4. HoCo Black
5. MND Black
6. Hero’s Green
7. Limelight
8. Integrity

Last two could be flip flopped.

BLC is way out. HG moves down but is in. MND moves from 9th (out of playoffs) to 5th and is playoff bound and as an ok seed. The rest of the division shake up some, but nothing that impacts playoffs.

I have seen this happen multiple times before at tournaments, a 3-way tie traditionally is supposed to mean Team A beats Team B, Team B Beats Team C and Team C beats Team A.

This rarely happens unless every team plays eachother.

In this instance M&D DC beat both Legends and BLC, so they definitely have a strong argument for being above both those teams. Then... since Legends and BLC didn't play, it was reverted to GA for that tie-break.

Where it would get hairy is if M&D DC only beat BLC and not Legends...

They absolutely need to clarify this sort of things more not just for NGLL but all the tournaments.

No playoff or scheduling controversies for 2033s? Lucky.

It was a zero sum game and BLC 2034 (BLC 2035 also screwed, but in a different way) got knocked out of playoffs by the rules adjustment?

Are all these teams really clamoring to drive to Copperplex and get blown out by HoCo 34? lol

Not me! Games are at 8am. Be there at 7am. Leave house at 6am or prior. Wake up at 5am.

As a parent, I realize it doesn’t matter. Momentary bragging point for parents or social media page (so many PLAYOFF BOUND posts). However, the kids worked really hard all season and tough lesson that the easily identifiable best teams didn’t get in and/or it was arbitrary.

It’s funny watching all these parents fight with each other when their reward is losing 38-1 to HOCO 34

Your sense of humor and creativity leaves a lot to be desired. At least be funny or interesting if you’re going to try the same thing over and over again.
