| I think Taylor is trying to move kids from asbesdos issues at Wootton. I read somewhere it will cost 300 million dollars to renovate the school but that Crown only cost 220 million to build from scratch. That means it's more cost effective to bulldoze the school and rebuild it new than it is to renovate. |
It’s usually better and cheaper to tear down. |
Any kid or adult can do that. |
Just what he did in Stafford, VA. Why did the BOE hire someone who would dismantle MCPS? |
Because they and their friends are partly behind it. |
He’s a complete animal and a fool. The fact that his solution is to GUT the Wootton community IS OBSCENE. The other fact is that he is obsessed with balancing farms rates, and English instruction rates out of a desperate attempt for equity. The truth is, The Wootton cluster is incredibly diverse and accurately reflects our communities. Asians in general are less likely to seek out farms and other assistance, it doesn’t mean that the community is wealthy. We’ve all worked hard to buy homes in this cluster and do not want to be lumped together with the kids from the Gaithersburg side not because they are bad, but because they are not the same community and do not reflect our values!!! there’s a level of parental involvement in Care that is evident in this Wootton community that cannot be seen in its counterpart on the other side. OUR KIDS DESERVE BETTER!! Taylor OUT |

GMAFB He doesn't seem "obsessed" with equity at all to me. He initially proposed increasing class sizes for the youngest and poorest students. He is proposing having two high schools that are 1 mile apart with one having more than twice the FARMS rate of the other (WJ and Woodward) In neither the Crown nor the Wootton boundary recommendations do FARMS rates change significantly and in many cases FARMS rates for high FARMS schools increase (e.g. Northwest). I honestly do not buy that Thomas Taylor knows what equity is or that he is interested in knowing. |
No, he’s interested in covering up financial mistakes by MCPS - and has more or less admitted as such. Essentially “mistakes were made” without identifying who made them and what he plans to do to ensure they don’t happen again. Furthermore, he chose the most disruptive solution instead of using it as a holding school for a few years and gather community feedback. |
Also he and his team designed a regional program model that puts magnets in rich schools and will undermine poorer schools. He doesn't seem to understand or care about equity at all. |
Oh my... if you are worried about your kids worry about all the bad things that have happened at Wootton in the past 10 years... consider moving to a safer school. Yes, you are wealthy. We all work hard. We all have deserving kids. We all are heavily involved with our kids. |
+1 |
Our DCC kids got screwed over big time without the DCC and access to stem and higher level classes. It will make the lower income schools more farms heavy as people move out or go private. |
They removed equity as one of the buzz words. |
