It's Skyview High.

Skyview passed as the new name with no opposition on the School Board and one abstention.

I'm going to stick with Western. I don't think I can get "skyview" to come out of my mouth. Will they replace school buses with the dulles people movers? I looked up skyview as a high school name previously and it was all alternative charter schools for kids that struggle. My kid is currently opted in but this name blows.

It sounds very rural, like the highlight of the school year would be a field trip to Luray Caverns.

beats Justice--but that is not an endorsement

I said it earlier and I'll say it again. I would very much have liked my child to go to Western or Oak Hill High School, I was complaining like crazy about Madam President and her RIO friends, but maybe we'll be okay if we get stuck staying at Oakton. At least it has a real name.

They passed the CIP tonight that recommits to expanding Centreville High to 3000 seats so maybe the long-term plan for Skyview really is to be some quasi-magnet with very small geographical boundaries and lots of pupil placements for its space and aviation pathways. To infinity and beyond!

They keep spreading the breadcrumbs in front of everyone with all these little decisions leading to the outcome above.

But they (Reid and SB) are masterfully doing it in a way that keeps parents and communities arguing with one another instead of banding together to throw the bums out.

Awful. They pulled this name out of their a**es.

Because they wanted this name all along, they sent out a BS survey with this name and a bunch of other awful names, knowing well-sure the public would choose this name because it was the least offensive of the group. That doesn't mean the public actually supported this name.

This name will be the butt of many jokes. It is a horrendous choice.

And the awful ones Reid included had already trashed in their "community involvement".

Oh, for a School Board with common sense.

The name kind of sounds like a high rise apartment building with a roof deck and top floor clubhouse.

Meh.

Loudoun has Rock Ridge, Lightridge, Riverside, and Woodgrove - all equally bland.

No one wants to offend someone with the name of an individual and even geographic names that actually mean something seem to invite controversy.

It's a silly name for what will likely end up being an OK school.

It’s just a name. I thought you guys were concerned about the danger of the bus ride.

I guess the sweatshirt is more important. (shrugs)

Happy to be at Skyview, although I dislike that name.
