Chesapeake ADHD closing its doors?

I thinks what's happened with the practice suddenly closing with no notice is just horrible to their patients. I think about the children in crisis who depend on their weekly sessions and how terrible this is for them and their parents. The negative effects of closing abruptly may have on their patients and their patients safety is a major concern. However, I do not believe that a breach in their computer system releasing email addresses is enough to shut a place down. These things happen with hospitals and doctors offices from time to time. Typically they work with a company to put security measures in place so it doesn't happen again but closing like this seems unheard of. Dr. Nadeau is a pioneer in ADHD and women. This is sad that her once reputable clinic has gone to total crap. I recommend that all patients of the clinic affected by this sudden closing, file a complaint with the department of health. They handle these types of complaints specific to a practice or a provider. Complaining here or to WaPo won't do as much as a DOH complaint against the practice.

I could understand a complaint against a practice that is still open but is there really anything they can do now that the practice has closed?

A board complaint can prevent them from keeping up the other practice in FL. Also guessing there are many outstanding testing reports- somehow needs to be addressed ( refunded?)

DDs pediatrician stepped in this morning to call in her script while we scramble. My request was not her first one. Maybe reach out to your ped if you're stuck for a few weeks.

Exactly. I'm an SLP and I think this could be considered client abandonment in my field. Health care providers cannot just abruptly pull the plug in a disorganized fashion like a 7-Eleven. There are rules and codes of practice for doctors, psychologists, etc. My own specialist informed me of her impending June retirement at an appointment today and I've been given a choice of two other doctors in the practice to continue my care. I have 6 months to decide which one I prefer.

I think this is a good idea. Even doctors who don't like to prescribe controlled substances will often write you a month or two if you're between providers.

Be careful of practices using this thread to advertise their practice. Contact your pediatrician for med management in the meantime and also request a list of recommended providers from them. All pediatricians offices have great lists to share.

I don’t get an email til tmsg to schedule a visit for my son for an assessment and Margaret emailed back that they’d shut down. Very surprising. They seemed well run and organized from the outside. No notice isn’t fair at all. Families and patients left stranded. Good care is hard to find.
