Kids have different needs and for some virtual is a better fit. Hundreds left because t |
They took took it away. It shows how out of touch you are and only feel families like yours are deserving. |
That is exactly my point! SAHPs can't relate to the problems and needs of most students and families. Your continued defense of spending money on MVA demonstrates that quite well. |
That wasn’t me. You need to believe that I am some other poster because you can’t handle that someone called you out on the horrible thing that you wrote. You truly are deranged. |
DP here You are deranged. You are responding as if you are that PP and then when called out you insist you are someone else but clearly have no issue with what they said. |
DP, but I don’t know why you think your opinion is fact. My husband is a working parent, as are friends, relatives etc. We are not that different and just all want the best for our kids. It sounds like you maybe don’t know many actual SAHPs and have just created this stereotype in contrast to yourself wherein you have problems and needs that this fictitious SAHP doesn’t have. |
Another DP here. I certainly disagree with stereotypes about SAHPs but to say a family with a SAHP is exactly the same as a family where both (or the only) parent is working is not true. The difference is the need for non-parental child care and the awareness of what happens when MCPS pulls the rug out from under working parents, including its own employees, when it refuses to allow child care providers to operate. |
|
Well, of course. This is why we should never have any minorities on any governing body.
Right? |
I don't want to get caught up in all this drama and name-calling, but just wanted to pipe in as a family with two working parents who would not have used the MVA but supported/support it continuing to exist for the families who do need it. |
There are either two of you who are very ill or one sock puppet. I didn’t even read the original comment that you said was a defense. I reacted to the use of a mass murder as an equivalent. |
So say you are a DP or don't flip out when people don't realize you are a different person. |
I'm not reflexively anti-SAHP but this is the most tone-deaf thing I've seen in a long time. Do you really have no idea what the average family in MoCo earns? Or what it would take for most of them to live on one income? Yes, your personal family that presumably has a white collar professional can "make choices" like not going on fancy vacations in order to afford keeping one parent out of the workforce. But that's not the reality for the vast majority of families in our county, and certainly not public school families. |
|
Don’t forget to mention that Taylor restructured central office, did not rehire several chiefs into their previous positions, and placed at least one of them in a supervisory role based on her certification rather than her experience. She has no experience in the position she was placed and from what I hear from people that are working directly with her, she has no idea what she is doing nor does she want to learn.
Kudos to the fail upward mentality within MCPS. |
That fail upward mentality in MCPS is undefeated. |
This has nothing to do with sahp. You are blaming a sahp for your child care issues vs being kind and maybe they’d help you out in occasion if you helped them out. It’s a safety issue as the workers need to get to the facility and not all are privileged like you and have a nice car. It’s also about clearing the road and school. If your big job is so important that you cannot take a day off you need live in child care. Yes, a sahp understands and it is one reason they may have chosen to stay home. Child care is expensive and if you are a lower income professional with more than one kid, or even one kid it may not pay to work. A good day care is $2500 a month or more, so a teacher, social worker, nonprofit worker, nurse, etc may not clear enough post taxes to cover that cost. What are you doing now for child care? Summers, holidays? This is on you, not a sahp. But, if you were kinder maybe someone would help you out. |
