I saw on Facebook that the poor boy in the Odessa Shannon attack is back in surgery today.

Those programs aren’t closing. They’re being regionalized. I know for magnet supporters like yourself that is tantamount to closure since they will no longer draw a pool of students across the county, but the programs are not technically closing.

Just stop.
Homeschool or leave the rest of us with brains know our children get a great education at MCPS.

Move to a red state like Alabama or MO or omg Oklahoma just loves the dummies ...you will fit right in.

Yes, he’s getting a piece of skull reattached, since they had to remove it to give brain space to reduce from the swelling.

DP

I dgaf about the magnet programs, but it seems almost certain they will cut resources for the existing magnets "for equity" (their excuse for everything regardless of whether or not it makes any sense).

Very inclusive of you.

I’m a democrat and I agree with everything on OP’s list. I am so glad my kids are nearly done with MCPS.

Naw, we can get a better superintendent (bar is low, I admit). The school board just needs to fire him on a timely basis, so they have enough time to attract more candidates and vet them properly.

My guess is that they will be very watered down. It’s quite unfortunate because this will likely decrease opportunities for lower income regions.

This was so terrible and so mishandled. And the student who hurt him needs to be expelled and sent to one of the county schools for severe behavior problems. I heard she was back in school quickly with no real consequences. Sure you can argue she didn’t mean for the kind of damage that was caused-but she didn’t in fact hit him with a hard object to in fact hurt him-so the severity of the result shouldn’t matter. The kid is dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed to stay in the school.

Nothing right about the outcomes of this.

Should say “did in fact-not didn’t”

They will absolutely be watered down. evidently, equity to the superintendent is doing away with excellence and hoping that somehow, this will help students with lower academic outcomes.
