And the joke is many here would argue both of those are "lites." (not that I agree) |
I bet someone will jump out to say WashU is top 20 while E is top25. |
In other words, Emory is not as attractive/popular/better overall |
USC and NYU have an appeal that transcends their rank, so this is not really a fair comparison. Kids will decide to go to school in LA or NYC over Atlanta given that both schools are highly regarded. |
There's no difference between the two, and frankly, Emory is harder to get into. Emory- 10% AR, 1500-1570/33-35 WashU- 12%AR, 1490-1550/33-35 |
A school ranked #100 is in the top 10% of all U.S. colleges and universities. If you spend you entire life just taking top 10% jobs and hanging out with top 10% people you are fabulously successful. |
| Emory appeals to a very narrow demographic. |
Good grief. |
Is that bad? They receive 37k apps. |
| Both NYU and USC are dropping in the rankings; they have better things to worry about than Emory. Both were T25 at one point. |
The real ranking by the actual people is what matters. What magazines say are just a reference among many for the real people when they make real decisions. |
If that makes you feel better. Med school admissions offices filled with real people. They would prefer Emory students. |
NYU dropped from 30 to 32 in USNWR because they dropped down one spot from a group of schools ranked at 30, pushing them down to 32. I'd be surprised if anyone sending their kid to NYU concerns themselves with Emory. Just like I doubt anyone sending their kid to Emory concerns themselves with NYU and USC. Why would they? |
