I’ve lived here for 14 years and I free. I don’t know why people have this amnesia about summer here. It’s ALWAYS hot and sticky with an afternoon storm . The one summer I actively recall being vastly different was 2013 because it rained CONSTANTLY. I had a 3 year old and we could never go to the pool. Besides that and the summer with the derecho, none of these summers are outside the norm.

25 years here. Disagree. We’d have this kind of weather days. But it was days. Never for this long. Most of the summer was pretty bearable.

I think this is the difference. Years prior, it would be this bad humidity and heat wise but it would be for a few days and then always "break". It just does not change now and unfortunately more the standard than the exception.

The high humidity around here is definitely getting much worse.

Yes! I think there have been 10-14+ days where the dew point has not gone below 70F. In most previous summers, there'd be at least 2-3 relatively "nice" days most weeks.

+100000 There has not been weeks of the dew point sitting at 75+ all day and all night without a break. Usually we have a break of a few days in between. This is not typical at all for NOVA weather. That's why there have been many articles about it recently. The deniers are a really interesting breed since you know we all "trust science" and the facts presented to us.

NP. The heat index currently is 102. What are you on about?

If you type in weather on google, it would tell you that the weather today is a high of 86 and a low of 68. I'm not sure how your "heat index" is calculated, I just look at the temperature, but I walked to work today because it was so pleasant.

DC has been humid subtropical (Koppen Cfa) for lifetimes.

Even New York City, which used to be considered humid continental, but is now also considered humid subtropical, had people leaving it in droves to escape the summers. Hence all the vacationland in New England: New Yorkers escaping the sweltering heat.

The Mid-Atlantic has always had hot, sticky summers.

"I'm not sure how your "heat index" is calculated." Wow, your ignorance is really freaking sad. I hope you aren't really serious but I fear you are.

86 is pleasant for DC in July. It's a historical low in fact, for those who know how to read data. But you do you, and blast your AC to the max.

There is no heat index of 102 today in DC. It’s 86 and a heat index of 91. Normal!

Are you ever satisfied with the weather, OP?

I think indoors in a temperature-controlled environment is your natural habitat.

Air conditioners have spoiled you rotten. Rotten!

DC-area weather sucks, generally.
