It’s a big tent; maybe don’t gatekeep.

Every special interest group weakens the message, and makes it easier to dismiss the left, because the reader doesn't know any trans people, or immigrants, or whatever. Autocracy is causing all these problems. Address the root problem.

That's your opinion, but I disagree and the beautiful thing about this is that you don't get to tell me what I get to put on my sign and I won't tell you what to put on yours. Concerns about "autocracy" may speak to you, but that is a very bloodless and academic concept that isn't going to stir very many people to get off their couches. Walk down the street and ask the average American if they can even define that word -- I guarantee the majority can't. So when you stay stuff like that you seem really out of touch with what the people who are coming to these protests are concerned about on a very gut survival level.

Also, to dismiss "immigrants" as some kind of side issue special interest group when immigration is the the central issue Trump ran on, and when these lawless ICE raids are causing the fear and unrest we are now seeing, and when immigrants are the lifeblood of our country, our culture and our economy, is problematic. It's strange that you think there is a single "reader" in the US who doesn't know an immigrant. Or heck, even a trans persons.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

This is example A of why MAGA are only keyboard warriors and never get outside with their neighbors. The negativity is such a mood killer.

I have thought about this though not in the way you are. It is true that the left turns out for protests and marches and riots in sheer numbers that the right does not. For all the hysterical shrieking of J6, it remains there were only a thousand rioters in the Capitol and many were actually just people waved in walking around. Contrast that to the many more people you find in the public riots in places like LA and the summer of 2020 and the Seattle and Portland antifa messes. Then you have the mass and not so mass "peaceful" protests quickly forgotten the next day, like this no King protest on Saturday will be regardless of how many turn out. There is no equivalent on the right side of the political spectrum.

But it also tells you these protests and riots clearly have minimal impact. It didn't stop Trump from winning in 2024. It won't stop his agenda. It changes very few minds at the ballot. It just means the left turns out to march in solidarity while the right doesn't. It makes sense given the conformist collectivist history of the left attracting a certain mindset seeking public unity in shared viewpoints versus the much more independent and skeptical aptitudes of the right that makes turning out in solidarity much more difficult. And what it also does is fool the left into thinking their support is much bigger than it really is while providing plenty of ammunition to the right over the left's inconsistencies and hypocrisies, such as marching against ICE deportation of violent illegal criminals who have committed terrible crimes.

Can you say more about the “more independent and skeptical attitudes of the right”? It’s hard to see genuinely skeptical people — including politicians — supporting Trump and Musk. So: “Independent” in relation to what exactly? Surely not “skeptical” of things like Republican leadership or politicians following in lockstep in voting and in implementing Project 2025.,

I have a flag I ordered online. It's a take on the Gadsen flag, with the snake wearing a MAGA hat and saying Daddy Please Tread On Me.

I agree with this but not for the reasons you state. I think it’s simply that we need to stay on message. This is about immigration not everything else. Liberals get very caught up in trying to make intersectionality happen and it just turns people off - including me, a lifelong Dem.

Now that Trump has pardoned January 6 protestors who bludgeoned law enforcement officers to death and did millions of dollars in damage, I'm sure we'll see more of his domestic terrorists in the future.

Love this. Although I think the chickens are the majority, not the totality.
