I'm the asshole who thanked the Hitler poster for the amusing comment. Come on this person has posted "you know who else x... Hitler" on several threads. The posts adds levity to each discussion, a là "is what we are speaking about really that bad or are there worse things in this world?"--yes there are, like Hitler. Of course I know Hitler is awful. Like I said, I grew up next door to Skokie. After reading Night, we had a specific day carved out in 8th grade to listen to Holocaust survivors come speak, most of whom were relatives of my classmates. Many of the survivors used humor, I remember one man saying "I may have looked horrible when I got out, but at least I wasn't as ugly as Hitler."

I definitely flipped a switch and I am sorry but the person who called me an asshole obviously doesn't realize that I DO hate Hitler and I DO realize that he was an evil dictator. At least in joking about him we continue to place emphasis on how horrible he was and hopefully we don't forget or become to far removed from what happened. Humor heals wounds but at the same time it keeps us from forgetting just how bad it really was.
