Yes, if you are in the wrong (lingering in the left lane), just fix the problem, don’t make it worse.

Move over before you get someone killed.

Why do you think tailgating only happens in the left lane? Is this some suburban derangement where literally every time you leave your house you have to go on a multi-lane highway?

Deflection.

Move over if you are driving in the left lane.

This isn’t that deep.

Agree.

The left lane is a passing lane, not a cruising lane. People are supposed to treat it like they would if they were on a single lane road. Only get over to pass, and then move back into right lane. It also means accelerating enough to pass the car on the right - so don't take 15 miles to pass the car on the right.

This is also a deflection. Two wrongs don't make a right. Don't tailgate. If you're really passionate about policing the left lane, become a cop.

Policing of the traffic rules is a separate issue, including enforcement of distracted driving laws.

Don't be the a$$hat going 5 mph over the speed limit in the left lane and think you're in the right.

Speed up, pass, and move over.

Just follow the rules of the road. No one said tailgating is right. But, neither is cruising in the left lane. Don't be that a$$hole that thinks they are "entitled" to cruising in the wrong lane.

Yes, follow the rules of the road. Don’t be that @sshole that tailgates.

I don’t misuse the left lane but when I see someone who is doing that, I don’t really care because I am never in a mad rush to pass every car I can. I also don’t tailgate but when I see someone tailgating another car, I definitely care. I think to myself, “that angry impatient a$$hole is making the road more dangerous for everyone.” The tailgater is the much bigger assh0le. You can only control your own actions.

Oh come on. There is no excuse for driving 15 in a 25. That woman should get off the road. Half the time these idiots are on their phones.

There are dangerous drivers that zoom up behind others really close then bob and weave to the next car, again driving at fast speed right up on the next guy’s bumper. One day they are the dented in, smashed up car being towed away from the sidelines.

Were you the one tailgating me through the school zone in the City of Alexandria yesterday, that middle school with the speed camera on Seminary? The flashing lights were on and the fines are $100.

If not, disregard and I agree with you otherwise.

next time you are self righteously tailgating someone, i hope you hear a voice in your head saying “a lot of people think i’m the assho1e”

Anonymous wrote:I don’t mind going around people who are slow in the left lane, but I don’t think tailgating does anything. It’s dangerous and I don’t think someone going slow in the left lane even notices tailgating. But sometimes they notice people going by them on the right.

Also, tailgaters, remember that people can use the left lane as long as they are actively passing someone, even if you want to go faster. If someone is in the left lane going 70 and passing traffic, and you roar up going 85, don’t tailgate them until they have had a chance to get back over.

Yes, this! It drives me nuts when I’m actively passing, have my turn signal on that I’m about to move into the right lane, and the person behind me guns the car and passes in the right before I can do so. Dangerous because I’m already moving into that space. And takes you longer because you still have to pass me.

No, most drivers know its the person not following the law, especially if you think you're being self righteous by intentionally camping out on the left.

I'm curious how many people actually know what the law is? I had a friend who was in his mid 30s before he realized that it was the law.

No, the person creating the dangerous situation (sitting in the left lane) is the a-hole here.
