This is done all over the world and is standard practice. It's quite difficult to fire for performance, however with restructuring you can fire anybody you want. This is commonly done in the private sector in the US as well and I imagine you have gotten too comfortable in your government jobs if you've never heard of it. This is why agencies get eliminated: if they're useful, some of them will come back in one form or the other. To the ones that complain: as you can see, I don't have time to comment here too often, but this board is full of government employees who regularly seem to have all the time in the world to hang out here during working hours. That speaks for itself.

How could it possibly save money to get rid of a government agency, then have to start it up again, and recruit and rehire some of the same people you fired in the first place, and fill out the rest of the staffing with new employees, who have a learning curve? How do you guarantee the new employees are any better than the old ones you found unproductive? This seems like the least efficient, most harmful way to run a government. If this is done routinely all over the world, can you share some real world examples of other governments firing everyone in an agency and starting over?

It's about making America great again. That means getting rid of all the people who don't think like you, and replacing them with all the people who do think like you. That's what is happening, and that's what MAGA wants.

Get attacked by a pit bull? Once something happens, you deal with it. You seem to have TDS. What do you expect them to say? The government has grown too big and there're too many people on the payroll who are not needed and continue to "work from home". We've run out of money a long time ago. If you do loose your job, you'll have to look for another one just like other people who are not employed by the government and who loose their jobs. You're not special.

OP here.

But Elon is so special he deserves access to all of our data and billions in new contracts, correct? Now THAT’s a special snowflake living off the government, no?

My parents wound rather see their grandkids lose out than Elon lose out. Because he is so special.

Cults are amazing.

OP, the above poster you responded to is the problem. They are entirely blind and ignorant to the FACTS. They have no understanding that people not in a position nor qualified to do so, are firing people at random. They aren't cutting the waste, but rather firing qualified experts in their field. They are also stealing personal data, top secret data and granting themselves federal contracts. All while the tax payers pay 2 million a pop for Trump to go golfing every weekend to his own properties. And yet MAGATS will still wonder why they are called deplorables.... Stupid is as stupid does.

Ha-ha. I'm the poster. I hope you all get fired. If you're a "qualified expert", you should be able to find another job. The reality is that you're not qualified and are doing some "lazy girl" job (as it's apparently called) as normal people now have to see on videos posted on social media. Moving papers from one pile to another and sending a few e-mails a day, spending the rest in "meetings". This is not new. In order to cut spending and get rid of redundant staff, you fire all and hire back the qualified ones. That's how it's been done forever as otherwise you'll end up with stupid lawfare. I saw those "qualified experts" fired from USAID on the news, one looking more stupid than the other, crying, as obviously they'll never find such a cushy job again, "working from home". Sorry for my spelling, English is my 3rd language You do you with your TDS!

Where are you from that this is normal to you?

Argentina.

They said that’s too bad and that I shouldn’t be so bitter (exact words— “you’re better than that”), but “we need to protect our country from the leftists.” They signed off their email with “we love you and will always be here for you.” What’s supposed to mean? They’re ok with us losing our income but alas, they still love us 🤦‍♀️

And that’s it. How can I have a relationship with these people? Is it possible knowing they put Trump first. I do feel this is out of my wheelhouse at this point, they’re in a cult, and nothing is going to change. Just be cordial going forward, try to make the holidays work and wait until 2028.

Why do you want to visit them during the holidays? I certainly would not. Anyone who voted for this loser is dead to me. For life.

I'd want to visit them because I would explain that they need to pay for everything. I can't have them over because I lost my job. Then I'd crash at their place and take their money.

+1. I'd also send over some details of how much money I expect to receive each month, and when I expect the deposits.

+2. I'd also add "unless you send the money, don't expect us to reply to any of your calls/emails. Thanks!"

Simple. Kind of what Musk did with Twitter. EU is currently restructuring its agencies for example. UN and all its agencies are restructuring. There are universities that have restructured to get rid of tenured staff or on tenure path, and hired back about 1/2 after not so many were needed (in Western Europe). And there are thousands of other examples, yes, including in Argentina or any developing country in the last 20-30 years which have rebuilt and restructured most of their governments. You can Google if you want. You seem to be living under a rock somewhere. It's the most efficient way to get rid of unwanted employees and cut costs. Good luck.
