Grandparents pretty much declared MAGA comes first

Where are you from that this is normal to you?

This is done all over the world and is standard practice. It's quite difficult to fire for performance, however with restructuring you can fire anybody you want. This is commonly done in the private sector in the US as well and I imagine you have gotten too comfortable in your government jobs if you've never heard of it. This is why agencies get eliminated: if they're useful, some of them will come back in one form or the other. To the ones that complain: as you can see, I don't have time to comment here too often, but this board is full of government employees who regularly seem to have all the time in the world to hang out here during working hours. That speaks for itself.

You must be the biggest crab in the bucket.

OP for your mental health and that of your immediate family, you need to minimize contact with your parents. You can't pull someone from a cult and you will lose your sanity trying to do it, You have one life too and you deserve peace. Let them go.

We basically have an agreement to not discuss politics and it mostly holds although sometimes I can’t handle it and pull back for awhile.

I would take their money and use it to help organizations and people who lose their funding and jobs.

The government has grown too big and there're too many people on the payroll who are not needed and continue to "work from home". We've run out of money a long time ago. OP here.

But Elon is so special he deserves access to all of our data and billions in new contracts, correct? Now THAT’s a special snowflake living off the government, no?

My parents wound rather see their grandkids lose out than Elon lose out. Because he is so special.

Cults are amazing.

Where can the fired firefighter apply for a new job?

OP, the above poster you responded to is the problem. They are entirely blind and ignorant to the FACTS. They have no understanding that people not in a position nor qualified to do so, are firing people at random. They aren't cutting the waste, but rather firing qualified experts in their field. They are also stealing personal data, top secret data and granting themselves federal contracts. All while the tax payers pay 2 million a pop for Trump to go golfing every weekend to his own properties. And yet MAGATS will still wonder why they are called deplorables.... Stupid is as stupid does.

Ha-ha. I'm the poster. I hope you all get fired. If you're a "qualified expert", you should be able to find another job. The reality is that you're not qualified and are doing some "lazy girl" job (as it's apparently called) as normal people now have to see on videos posted on social media. Moving papers from one pile to another and sending a few e-mails a day, spending the rest in "meetings". This is not new. In order to cut spending and get rid of redundant staff, you fire all and hire back the qualified ones. That's how it's been done forever as otherwise you'll end up with stupid lawfare. I saw those "qualified experts" fired from USAID on the news, one looking more stupid than the other, crying, as obviously they'll never find such a cushy job again, "working from home". Sorry for my spelling, English is my 3rd language You do you with your TDS!

May you receive all the sympathy you show to others in this post.

That’s some pretty extreme stuff. “leftist Marxists” and how Trump is trying to protect our country’s “Judeo-Christian values.” “we need to protect our country from the leftists.”

Sine they’re older, I’d take care of them if they need help but keep all conversations at a surface level. I wouldn’t share anything at all about my life. Wouldn’t let them try to engage in their crazy. If they bring it up, I’d just say I gotta run in a neutral tone.

My best friend's parents went full QAnon. They're even talking end times stuff. My friend is very, very concerned but they also try to exert a large amount of control over her every time she lets them in (they berated her for watching a show on Disney+, because they're anti Disney). It's sad, I grew up spending time with these people and they weren't fully nuts like this.

She sort of preps to visit them and keeps the visits very short. When they try to start spouting stuff in front of the kids, she redirects. She feels guilty because her mom had some serious health problems, but it's mentally taxing.

NP. You wallow in your ignorance Dan Bongino was railing just like you about the incompetence and laziness of government workers until he became one himself. He was in FOX News the other day whining about how hard he has to work s a government worker and how much of his life and income he gave up to become a federal employee. https://www.yahoo.com/news/dan-bongino-cries-fox-news-192818181.html

Apparently some third world, authoritarian country that she ran away from. And now she wants to import that BS she ran away from to the US.

How could it possibly save money to get rid of a government agency, then have to start it up again, and recruit and rehire some of the same people you fired in the first place, and fill out the rest of the staffing with new employees, who have a learning curve? How do you guarantee the new employees are any better than the old ones you found unproductive? This seems like the least efficient, most harmful way to run a government. If this is done routinely all over the world, can you share some real world examples of other governments firing everyone in an agency and starting over?

Anonymous wrote:My aunt voted for Trump, but if you bring up politics she gets upset and leaves. I have cut her off and see her less (she adopted me so technically my "mother").

I understand she is fiscally conservative but to vote for him especially after 1/6 was just beyond me. When she brought up how awful public schools are and that the DOE should be axed, I asked her about my kids and would she pay for private education for them. She just left the room.

I used to work for USAID years ago (I switched careers when I had kids) and tried talking to her about friends who lost jobs/the work they do. USAID needed major reform, but I didn't believe in tearing it down.

I went to a city and sent a picture of a memorial. Her response, "I can't believe our tax dollars are going to that." I told her it was privately funded, she didn't believe me, so I sent her information proving no tax dollars went to this thing, she didn't believe me!

We talk about surface level things if we do talk, which is very rare.

Shame on you.

DP. Shams on you for voting for Trump.

I feel like MAGA and trump have really surfaced who some of my family really is. It is no longer than subtle racism or crazy talk- it is now wide in the open. We have chosen not to expose our children to it. It is our families loss but as I keep reminding my step mother- elections have consequences. And most of this family was not great it is no loss.

Anonymous wrote:My parents, who are in their 70s, sent me an email the other day ranting about “leftist Marxists” and how Trump is trying to protect our country’s “Judeo-Christian values.” This was in response to a conversation we had regarding the treatment of federal workers (we have a few in our family) and the fact that we could lose half our household income if my husband or I are RIF’ed.

They said that’s too bad and that I shouldn’t be so bitter (exact words— “you’re better than that”), but “we need to protect our country from the leftists.” They signed off their email with “we love you and will always be here for you.” What’s supposed to mean? They’re ok with us losing our income but alas, they still love us 🤦‍♀️

And that’s it. How can I have a relationship with these people? Is it possible knowing they put Trump first. I do feel this is out of my wheelhouse at this point, they’re in a cult, and nothing is going to change. Just be cordial going forward, try to make the holidays work and wait until 2028.

If I received an email like this, I would say "Thanks! The best way you can be here for us is to give us the money to make up the money will lost due to the RIF. Thanks for helping make us (and America) great again!"
