PPP was not popular, but all the GOP scammers got and took billions, didn't they. The felon bankrupt president telling all the poor usury slaves to pay their predatory debts. He'd put them in debtors prison if he could. The GOP is evil. |
Most people who have never gone through the medical school to residency pipeline or had a loved one do it, do not know these things. There are a hard-set number of slots for each specialty. I think the number is something like 40,575 slots. However, there are usually 42,000-43,000 med school graduates applying each year to those spots. This is why thousands go unmatched each year and can try again the following fall. There are only so many spots for the top ranked doctors at the top ranked med schools. And they have to beat the algorithm to get matched together. |
Listen, Flower, parents and students already expect colleges to land you a job, so they’ve become vocational schools, so they should be treated and recognized as such. As the other poster said, traditional college study should be the priority and subsidized differently or not at all. |
I'd sooner want all of the fraudulent PPP loans dealt with than going after students. |
Student loans are basically money printed from nothing, loaned to students, and paid back to backs. Magic money machine laundering by the bank with the students as fall guys. |
^ paid back to banks. |
Prepare a loan repayment with each college. They have to pay back the unpaid loans in installments, or the government will stop giving student loans to attend the college. |
Then, no one should subsidize your navel gazing major. Do it on your own dime, sweetie. |
Government can't chew and walk at the same time? https://www.irs.gov/compliance/criminal-investigation/six-people-charged-with-fraudulently-obtaining-loans-meant-to-help-small-businesses-during-covid-19-pandemic |
Liberals don't seem to get that it isn't OK, if a person who graduated from their college with government assistance can't go on and get a good job and pay taxes. Paying taxes is important if you are going to have government assisted programs. Let me break it down for you. Poor people don't pay taxes. Middle and upper middle-class people pay taxes. Rich, they pay alot of taxes(by bulk not by rate), but there aren't very many of them. No, it's not OK to go college take on loans take government subsidies and not get a middle to upper middle-class job. It's not a judgement on the study. Sure, rich kid with a trust fund, go do whatever you want. This is why eviscerating the middle class with h-1b's is a problem. The only people that have enough money but not enough representation to avoid paying taxes are the middle and upper middle class. Another way to put it, either the corporations have to pay us more so we can get into a higher tax bracket, or the corporations need to pay more taxes. |
This is kind of what he's announcing today. Colleges with the most graduates in default must push those students to repay or risk getting cut off from federal funding. https://www.newsweek.com/student-loan-update-trump-withhold-new-borrowers-report-2068237 |
I have a problem with this forgiveness stuff, too. I worked to pay for college. My kids got scholarships and work for college. No loans. If someone is foolhardy to take a loan, they must pay it back. |
The irony here, of course, is that Trump U grads couldn't find success in the job market. |
+2 forgiving old loans does nothing to fix the ridiculous system. |
What's wrong with Trump trying to get his Universities Deans to do better by their alums and students so that taxpayers don't have to bail them out? |
