If it wasn’t bad enough, Trump wants to garnish our wages when he should be forgiving our loans. Sigh https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna204494 |
Why should he be forgiving loans? |
Was just about to ask this same question! Why? |
Why should people have to take out massive loans just to get an education in the first place? |
I hate Trump, but I fully support this. People took out the debt, and they need to pay it back. |
Do you believe the oil industry should repay all of the billions in subsidies it has received? Do you think Israel should repay the US for the billions in military aid it has received? Do you believe the banking industry should have to repay the billions in bailout funds it got in the subprime crisis? Do you believe Trump should have to replay the massive amounts of money he has grifted? Or is it just lowly struggling college students who need to pay? |
There is nothing new about this. It's back to normal mostly. |
No loans are forgiven. They're tranferred to the tax payer. So no. Pay your loans. YOU applied and signed contractually for them. Time for you to grow up. |
If people want to help others pay off their student debt, fine. Have the IRS put a box on 1040s where people can contribute however much they want to go to a Student Loan Forgiveness Fund. |
It’s completely cruel and unfair to do this to people! Can’t you see that ?!? |
+ a billion ! |
Because a bunch of liberal professors have managed to architect a system of useless higher education that is not responsive to free market value. It’s not responsive to free market value because the loans are infinitely available. So the solution is to eliminate the BS programs and reduce loan availability. Our children should be learning valuable reasoning technique and useful information that leads to economic output. They should not be in a four year holding tank of useless nonsense that’s infinitely funded by the tax payer by created money that’s not being paid back. |
The problem is that by doing this Trump is adding another drag to the economy on top of his tariffs. Plus the cut in research spending also has a drag effect on GDP.
Personally don't agree with student loan foregovenwas (I can see if ties to work in certain industries / geographic locations as an incentive to fill hard to fill jobs or for loans to certain for profit U that were predatory with justice cases against those for profit U or waiting interest in federal loans). But for that you can thank Sen Warren. Restarting now so abruptly is not a good idea for the economy. |
How can anyone be upset that people have to pay back loans that they took? Good. Many of us are happy about this. |
I'm not particularly a fan of most of what you mention here, but only the student loans were constructed as loans. The others were always giveaways. No one ever agreed to repay them, unlike student loans. |
