I liked Amy on "Parks and Recreation." I've never seen any stand-up of hers. Amy is funnier to me than Tina. I find Tina very one-note with being cutting and snark. I've only seen one episode of 30 Rock. It bothered me when she did that stupid Sarah Palin impression about seeing Russia from her house. That makes no sense given the size of Alaska. Plus, Palin never said that. Yet Fey seemed so smug and satisfied with herself. All she is is smug.

I find Kristen Wiig 100 times funnier than either of these two.

She’s just an entertainer. She doesn’t solve world crises or save lives. But what she does, she does very well. She is extremely successful. That doesn’t make her more or less valuable than a highly successful architect or secretary or hairdresser. She’s very good at her profession.

I liked Amy on "Parks and Recreation." I've never seen any stand-up of hers. Amy is funnier to me than Tina. I find Tina very one-note with being cutting and snark. I've only seen one episode of 30 Rock. It bothered me when she did that stupid Sarah Palin impression about seeing Russia from her house. That makes no sense given the size of Alaska. Plus, Palin never said that. Yet Fey seemed so smug and satisfied with herself. All she is is smug.

I find Kristen Wiig 100 times funnier than either of these two.

Exactly she did not say that. She never said she could see Russia from her house. I am sorry you need to rewrite history to make Tina Fey's 20 year old impression seem funny. Peddling Tina Fey as a great comic genius is confusing to me. Her whole persona was the brainy cool girl who is supposed to be attractive and irresistible to men. And again, Kristen Wiig was much funnier as an actor and sketch comedian and she can actually act like something other than herself. She could play tons of different characters. Tina Fey has one mode, cynical brainy cool gitl.

This reminds me of when people used to laugh at Steve Martin clips and I always thought it was goofy and obvious. Tina Fey is in the obvious and not funny category to me.

To be more clear even the paraphrasing is not funny to me. The impression was not funny to me and I hate Sarah Palin. The impression was smug and obvious. The Sarah Palin hype gave Fey a huge head snd made her think she is a comic genius. She is like every other mildly witty woman in DC.

It’s fine not find her funny or like her body of work, but there are posters on this thread saying objectively ridiculous things, like Fey and Poehler are just a “flash in the pan,” several decades into their careers, and an absurdist comment in a comedy sketch isn’t funny because it’s not an exact quote, and Fey really got a big head after appearing on SNL as Palin, even though she was already famous, had already been head writer, Weekend Update anchor and cast member on SNL, had already written a hit movie, and had her own tv show.

A pp complained both that Poehler has no edge, but Fey is too snarky, in the same post. No wonder it’s hard to be a woman in comedy. You need edge, but not too much edge. Don’t be bland, but don’t be mean, and don’t be crude, but be a little provocative.
