I dont think ticked off. They are laughing. |
Because some UVA parents put it down because they need UVA to be “the best” VA State school. And W&M has identical— like down to the .02 in GPA— states for admitted students. Which might make UVA and WM peer schools. Which can’t happen, because UVA has to be THE BEST SCHOOL. |
As a tangential statistic, decades ago the Ivies were scattered across three tiers when viewed by standardized scoring profiles: https://books.google.com/books?id=ykQEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=life+magazine+1960+college+admission+tufts+bowdoin&source=bl&ots=5BKi5WV8SQ&sig=GFl_LycVnJV8AGIXLX2P9kW97I0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=sO1TT4uPK-jm0QG8ifC3DQ#v=onepage&q&f=false. |
Wow! Great to see those old stats, thanks for posting! |
I'm glad you find the information to be of interest. |
| Every school seems to get some hate. And the southern schools get a little extra regional hate. But the schools that seem to get the most disrespect are Chicago, Emory, and Cornell. Which is weird because they are all great schools. |
In 2015, Northeastern had 28.9% acceptance rate. 51063 applied. That's not a safety range at all. |
I find the Emory one particularly odd. Chicago has the marketing/admissions strategy and Cornell that’s Ivy heat, but I’m surprised there are so many invested in Emory. I think it catches strays as people knock it down when compared to others. I have no connection, just find it odd so many people would care enough to get riled up about it. It’s a great school so I’m not knocking it though, there all are objectively. |
The official tagline is actually … Red States: Because those excess tax receipts from California have to go somewhere! |
LOL Emory has the real reason to be hated. It's the biggest cheater school in the history of the US colleges. Furthermore, clueless Emory moms talk about other schools 'gaming' the rankings when their school is the biggest actual cheater school. I don’t care enough to read links, but didn’t realize. Knew Columbia was shady but didn’t know about Emory. |
| Anything in the South. |
| Brown |
Yes, Columbia is a recent high profile one. Berkeley is another high profile school got caught cheating. "UC Berkeley and four other schools removed from Best Colleges list for misreporting statistics" https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uc-berkeley-and-four-other-schools-removed-from-best-colleges-list-for-misreporting-statistics/ There many schools got caught actually cheating, but people never mention that and instead they pick on other school for 'gaming' |
| People seem to universally hate U of Richmond |
