Most of the schools were easy admits back in the days. Many Ivies had 50 60 70% acceptance rates. Ivies invented all sorts of gaming including ED. |
Higher yes. This high, no. |
Ten years ago was 2015. Except for Northeastern, none of these were anyone’s safety. |
I find the vitriol so insane that I keep jumping in to defend UChicago even though my kid didn’t even apply.
|
What century are we talking about here? |
At one point Harvard had a 90% admit rate. The admit rates were only so high because only the privileged elite could apply. |
| So the sorting was done before the application process instead of after. |
Same. |
This. |
| Any school in a red state is automatically suspect on this forum. |
| High point |
For my kid that was Vanderbilt, Chicago, and NYU…constant mail. |
| Is the Richmond hate new? It seems like Northeastern was the most hated the last 2-3 years. |
| This where parents can have some control over how they influence their kids’ expectations and open-mindedness about schools (and maybe improve their mental health?). If the parents are expressing their disdain about schools (controlled for legitimate financial considerations), saying this place is for Ivy League rejects, this place is below T-50, this place is MAGA, this place is in flyover country, and so forth, then the kids may pick up on that and not consider places that could be great fits in every way. |
Why W&M? Amazing school |
