These because 10 years ago they were safeties that parents would have been thrilled to send their high stats kids to but now they are reaches for everyone so are awful/not-worth-the-mone/yield-protecting scam schools

Most of the schools were easy admits back in the days. Many Ivies had 50 60 70% acceptance rates. Ivies invented all sorts of gaming including ED.

Which Ivies had 50 60 70 % acceptance rates and when? Provide sources.

As a tangential statistic, decades ago the Ivies were scattered across three tiers when viewed by standardized scoring profiles: https://books.google.com/books?id=ykQEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=life+magazine+1960+college+admission+tufts+bowdoin&source=bl&ots=5BKi5WV8SQ&sig=GFl_LycVnJV8AGIXLX2P9kW97I0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=sO1TT4uPK-jm0QG8ifC3DQ#v=onepage&q&f=false.

Wow! Great to see those old stats, thanks for posting!

UPenn had close to 50% into the 90s.

MIT used to be mostly a vocational school once.

One recent thread does not constitute universal hate. Rarely comes up in posts.

People don't care enough to even hate Richmond or Bucknell.

Saying DCUM hates Richmond is like saying that basketball fans hate the Wizards. Hate the Celtics and Lakers, yes. But it’s not really hate for the Wizards/Richmond. More of an afterthought than anything.

Why W&M? Amazing school

Because some UVA parents put it down because they need UVA to be “the best” VA State school. And W&M has identical— like down to the .02 in GPA— states for admitted students. Which might make UVA and WM peer schools. Which can’t happen, because UVA has to be THE BEST SCHOOL.

And VT is better in engineering and a lot of the biological sciences.

The issues usually starts when someone asserts better or best over other named schools (as you just did).

True that. Especially engineering. VA is lucky to have these three schools.
