Imagine starting our with James Mattis as your Defense Secretary and then winding up with this Hegseth idiot. Downward trajectory
personified.

And also thinking it was a good idea to fire JOS chairman, Air Force Gen. CQ Brown Jr., followed by Navy Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Air Force Gen. James Slife, and several JAGs.

Because how many pushups he could do was clearly an indicator on fitness for the SecDef role.

Well...in an administration where Trump's doctor cited his "frequent victories in golf events" as evidence that he is fit for office...rating a SecDef on pushups is par for the course.

I don’t know guys, this… doesn’t seem great?

“There is a complete meltdown in the building, and this is really reflecting on the secretary’s leadership,” said a senior defense official. “Pete Hegseth has surrounded himself with some people who don’t have his interests at heart.”

Look, I'm as left as it comes. I like to describe myself as "left of Trotsky" when people ask my political leanings and I'm only half joking.

I'm around military people all day long as part of my job and I'll be the first to tell you the Pentagon is chock full of very, very smart people. Now don't get me wrong, it's also full of ideologues, many of whom are smart people who inexplicably got caught up in the cult of Trump, but to claim the Pentagon has "0% smart people" is ironically one of the dumbest statements I've heard in a while.

There are a lot of things out military does wrong, but there are two things it really does right; logistics and making sure really stupid people don't make it past O-6.

The big problem is that really smart people, under the right circumstances, can be convinced of some really stupid things.

I thought the PP was answering a question and saying that 0% of the Pentagon voted for Trump. They just wrote it in a run-on sentence,

I wonder if a lot of the churn is because Hegseth is going to recommend Trump invoke the insurrection act at the southern border.

I assumed when I first read the story that these individuals are protecting us from dangerous actors like Hegseth. I guess I was hoping that they are thwarting him or leaking important information. I too hope that they are real patriots and are putting US interests ahead of partisan beliefs.
