Yes, it's not possible, because younger kids (USYS, so SY) will be feeding the MLSN Next teams. There would be an age gap at U12->U13. |

CalNorth(USYS) which is a smaller league our here in Norcal, versus Norcal Premier(US Club) which has many, many more club teams plus NPL and recently ECRL, was running the first MLSNext 2 league this past year and will do so in the future put out this statement recently saying MLSNext 2 so far is basically still up in the air.
https://www.calnorth.org/news/important-update-cal-north-shifts-to-seasonal-year-age-groups-in-2026-2027 Beginning with the 2026-2027 soccer season, Cal North will be transitioning to a School Year age grouping method for all programs—with the exception of our Olympic Development Program (ODP) and National Platforms (e.g., MLS Next Tier 2). For National Platforms, including MLS Next Tier 2, Cal North Member Organizations will defer to the National Platform’s governing body to adhere to their required age grouping method. |

I do not see any pro to staying in BY alone for MLS, but it has many negatives.
By parents, just hold on to the last hope, as there is no announcement. The same is true for people who believe there is absolutely no change in 25/26. |

This is why we haven’t heard anything or have seen the website with guidance from US Soccer. |

They are not the governing body of MLS/MLS2. They can not step in to announce MLS decision. |
| Our kid's horrible first touch and inability to beat a cone 1v1 doesn't get better changing from BY to SY |
. My kid's great first touch and technical skills gets way more important when they're not 30 lbs lighter than the opponent they're going against. Nothing else changes except for the cut off and now magically they're one of the strongest players. |
Idk your child but there are other sports for them. Best to you and your kid. |

BY parents are in shambles…they wanted their kids to continue playing with kids a grade below to feel better about themselves… |
| I’ve already lost two soccer friends over the change. They are angry about my kid being born in September. |

Aug. parents are pissed at Sep. parents. |
| I feel like everyone is pissed at the formerly trapped players at my kids club. |
|
My son is September,. He is the youngest and the top scorer of his team and the whole league.
Older kids are sad to miss him, younger kids are excited that soon he will be with them. |
| Too bad we have to wait a whole year firntje age change to happen. |
| Clubs be gathering up all those September birthdays |
