This is my thought too. If a global pandemic was but a blip in the economy (and made so many people crazy revenge spenders - that I will never understand) then I think we can survive this.

The next pandemic will be in a time of no support from the government. We won't have to wear masks though.

Yup, if we have another covid-like event it’s going to be a mess. No masks or vaccines, probably even a ban on masks and vaccines in the crazier areas. No restrictions, just everyone out as normal. A think a few million deaths would be considered winning by right wingers though.

MAGA trash taking itself out.

For the people saying that Trump has to make cuts to fix the deficit. Here are his just announced plans:

No tax on tips.
No tax on seniors’ Social Security.
No tax on overtime pay.
Renew Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, set to expire in 2026.
Increase the deduction for state-and-local taxes, now limited at $10,000.

What are we supposed to do if the economy collapses? We are seriously considering purchasing guns, if people begin to loot. If an 'every man for himself' attitude is what flies in this country so be it.

If you are wealthy kid or the wealthy parent congratulations. The next 4 years are going to be set up to make sure you and your heirs keep getting richer and richer. Sadly the Dems who were supposed to help the middle class are equally financed by the same class of wealthy folks.

I really feel bad for our citizens who are in the middle class or poor. You are going to feel the brunt of inflation, deficit and joblessness.

Oh great, you'll be taking this entire MAGA scenario to it's full potential. Good thinking, mate.

Look at the history of the United States. A lot of people don't seem to realize that we are going through it's nothing new. The dislike of government, the fear of your neighbor, extreme individualism, selfishness, militant mindset all of this is not new. We are a complicated country. Extremely successful yes, but also very turbulent with very unique views of everything and contrarian.

I'm rich and I'm scared. Money is finite. I'm not a billionaire. Every single industry in this country stands to lose from one of Trump's policies, or Musk's villainy. Almost no one made it though the Great Depression unscathed.

Well I choose to not allow fear to control me. I’m human and humans adapt. I’ve traveled enough to realize it’s a long long way before i’m drinking from dirty well water that might give me disentary. Alive been to enough places to realize being in touch financial straights does not equal unhappiness. Can’t worry about what hasn’t happened.

My family has a million and a half or so in the stock market. But I don't think I'm rich. And I know all of that could be gone in a minute or two if the stock market crashes. I don't think I'm rich, and I know you guys around here don't. But I'm still quite scared.

You haven’t seen the small business confidence numbers yet?

Anonymous wrote:LOL ! This thread asks "How long till the economy collapses ?" --in an attempt to blame the new administration. Wake up folks. The USA has a national debt approaching $40 million and is still engaging in annual budget deficit spending !!!

Time to stop playing politics and get down to the business of acting (spending & budgeting) like a responsible country. The world's problems are not our responsibility to solve.

Pro Tip: If you don't like the price of eggs, then don't buy eggs.

How much did deficit spending go down while the Republicans had total control of everything from 2017 to 2019? How much did they reduce the debt then?
