Fauci has security. It’s just that taxpayers are no longer on the hook for it.

It is taxpayers who he is in danger from. Seems only right that taxpayers should pay for his security.

You could say that about anyone in government who has experienced a death threat. If there is one, you investigate and prosecute.

You don’t provide taxpayer provided security for every instance for all of time going forward.

Are you always this obtuse, or is it just on Fridays?

Personal insults indicate a lack of debate skills.

If he wants security he can pay for it privately. Just like he is.

It’s a difference of opinion.

It’s difficult to have an intelligent debate with someone who refuses to engage in objective reality.

Trump didn’t cut Fauci’s security detail to the taxpayers money.

Right? Why do they pretend this hasnothing to do with retribution or partisanship?

Either they are stupid or they think we are.

Because admitting that is admitting they’re in a cult and anything their leader does is ok with them.

I don’t agree with everything Trump does but I agree with this decision.

Why? Because you think Trump did this to save money or because you think it’s ok for Trump to openly target his enemies?

Because Fauci wasn’t entitled to taxpayer security in the first place!

Why not? He was receiving taxpayer security because some people are mad at him because of the pandemic (even on this thread), because of his job. Seems very reasonable that he would receive taxpayer security while receiving threats because of his job. It happens for other public employees, when they receive threats because of their jobs.

Seems reasonable while he was working in his official role. But he stepped down in 2022. He isn’t owed lifetime government funded security. Seems reasonable for him pay for whatever security he feels necessary at this point

So based on your reasoning, if a prosecutor does some ground breaking prosecution taking down a world leader mafia cartel or something similar and is given protection because of the death threats, if he switch job after a year protection is taken away leaving him to the cartel’s revenge even if the threats are still there?

And fauci’s threats were directly caused by trump’s campaign of lies against him

It sure does. His position is a totally normal position that has, for various reasons, engendered feelings toward him that may cause unhinged loons to do something dangerous towards him. He is/was not receiving protection for something he did as a private citizen but because of work that he did as a government employee.

Fauci governed like an unhinged loon, so its only fitting similar people are drawn to him.

For example:
"“I don’t think we should shake hands ever again, to be honest with you,” Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said. “Not only would it be good to prevent coronavirus, it probably would decrease instances of influenza dramatically in this country,” he told a Wall Street Journal podcast.

Dr Fauci, who has helped co-ordinate the US response to Covid-19, added that when the pandemic fades he would be in favour of “absolute compulsive hand-washing” becoming a fixture of everyday life."

He set the tone for America and the legion of mentally broken people he left in his wake are his legacy.

So he deserves to be murdered?

No. He also doesn’t deserve to have private security paid by the taxpayers.

But he is receiving his threats because of his government service, not because he likes the Yankees.

But he only has these threats against him due to his government service as determined by government law enforcement.

He’s not been granted lifetime security. He had a security detail while the threat level was still elevated. Trump isn’t removing the security detail because Fauci’s no longer in danger.

Only that there is no review made and nobody determined that there are no longer threats against Fauci. Is just trump settling scores by going after his enemies . Trump himself admitted it when asked about the removal of the protection. He did not say that it was mo lo get needed as there were no threats, he just said Fauci made a lot of money, he made a lot or money and can pay for it by himself. If anything Trump played again on the conspiracy theories that Fauci was in cahoots with china and made billions on the back of Americans who died.

And when one of his flying monkeys kills Fauci or Pompeo of Bolton, he’ll just sit back and disclaim any responsibility. It’s stochastic terrorism on steroids.

Just so Democrats remember this when they take office. Stop going high people.

It's surely not the norm for every muckety muck to get secret service details for decades after leaving government.

They might get such a significant amount of credible threats that warrants it.

If there's a credible threat, then it's warranted. I don't know who's threatening Pompeo or Bolton, haven't seen much about that on any online forums, but I've definitely seen a lot of unhinged RWNJ vitriol, hate and threats directed at Fauci online.

Iran.

Trying reading a newspaper sometime. (But hurry since they will soon all be censored by meta)

Just because they do not remember the provenance of the threats doesn’t mean their point is invalid.

Is it normal for the president to realize more than 1,000 goons, who have already committed violence in his name? They were found guilty in a court of law. Now they are roaming around our streets (I would take an illegal alien over them anytime!)

Oh give it a rest. Your guy sent a man who killed two cops from prison to his comfy house. Pardon power isn’t a new thing and the person who abused it most was Biden.

Did Biden put who he perceived as an enemy in danger by cutting off their security? Nope, because he isn’t a spiteful (fill in the blank) like the current occupant of the WH. But as other posters have pointed out, magas aren’t capable of having a sane rationale conversation. Do you also argue with everyone you work with?

Um, yes he did. Trump’s security detail asked for more resources this past year and they were denied by the Biden administration.

And then he got shot.

Trump should have to pay for it because Trump is the guy who drove a lot of the hatred of Fauci.

He has advised every president since Reagan and got a presidential medal of freedom from George W Bush. I think some security is a fair ask when he is getting death threats to this extent. Any one working under trump is incredibly brave in hoping that Trump doesn’t turn his most rabid fans towards them.

Then he was caught at a baseball game violating his own recommendations.

He pulled the mask down for a few minutes to drink water. He was outdoors. The people next to him were his wife and a close friend. So FO with that BS.

The photo shows he wasn’t drinking, he was looking at his phone.

There was no one around him but his family. Give it a break.

Then how come I couldn’t take my family to a playground during the pandemic?

Going to have to correct you on some points there:

Trump already had as much or more secret service protection as any other Presidential candidate prior to him. Trump was asking for MORE than that and that's what got denied.

And there's no evidence that Biden or Mayorkas were directly involved in denying the requests for more security. The denial came as a result of insufficient funding and staffing, so you can blame Congress for that.

And when Trump did get shot they bent over backwards to provide him with more security, drawing resources away from other details that needed it.

that is normal. Security details cost a lot of money and Faucci doesn't need it now. He needs to cover it from his own pocket if it is that necessary.

Agree. He does not need a govt funded security detail anymore

Neither do Trump's adult children besides Barron. I hope they're not getting a single thing on the government dime.

Untrue.

Ivanka had it last time.

Don Junior rejected it last time.

Tiff had it at Georgetown.

Not sure about Eric.

Then Biden allowed those who had it to keep it for six months after Trump left office.

Many photos of Ivanka jogging with her secret service agents.
