This is how it starts, and Trump will feign ignorance when it happens.

Fauci has security. It’s just that taxpayers are no longer on the hook for it.

It is taxpayers who he is in danger from. Seems only right that taxpayers should pay for his security.

You could say that about anyone in government who has experienced a death threat. If there is one, you investigate and prosecute.

You don’t provide taxpayer provided security for every instance for all of time going forward.

In normal times, you do. But Trump is not normal and prefers for his enemies, I e., public servants, to be fearful and in danger.

Nice.

Are you always this obtuse, or is it just on Fridays?

Personal insults indicate a lack of debate skills.

If he wants security he can pay for it privately. Just like he is.

It’s a difference of opinion.

Agree. He does not need a govt funded security detail anymore

Neither do Trump's adult children besides Barron. I hope they're not getting a single thing on the government dime.

I don’t believe any adult kids of presidents get secret service? I’m pretty sure that has always been expected to be privately paid.

I think they do while the parent is in office at least that is how I interpreted it.

He is tightening government spending, the whole point behind DOGE.

It’s difficult to have an intelligent debate with someone who refuses to engage in objective reality.

Trump didn’t cut Fauci’s security detail to the taxpayers money.

He lied about masks multiple times. First he wrote they were useless in a private e-mail.
Then he said publicly they were not needed. Later he said he said that because he wanted to make sure health care providers had access and supplies wouldn't run out.
Later he recommended double masking.
Then he was caught at a baseball game violating his own recommendations.

It makes sense for former presidents and perhaps vice presidents. But even then. Is the secret service still shadowing Dan Quayle? That man cashed in and is worth many millions and can certainly manage his own security. It's surely not the norm for every muckety muck to get secret service details for decades after leaving government.
Pompeo was getting security from State Department, not secret service.
Bolton and Pompeo are threatened by Iran as revenge for Suleimani's killing.

This what the FAQ says about who they protect:

Who is the Secret Service authorized to protect?

By law, the Secret Service is authorized to protect:

*The president, the vice president, (or other individuals next in order of succession to the Office of the President), the president-elect and vice president-elect
*The immediate families of the above individuals
*Former presidents, their spouses, except when the spouse re-marries
*Children of former presidents until age 16
*Visiting heads of foreign states or governments and their spouses traveling with them, other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States, and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad
*Major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election
*Other individuals as designated per Executive Order of the President and
National Special Security Events, when designated as such by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

Barron is over 16 and most of the other Trump kids are over 40. I don't mind Barron getting protection, but Tiffayi and her 3 middle-age siblings better not be getting SS protection like they did the last time around. Trump extended their protection for a period of 6 months after he left office.

JFK jr offered SS protection and declined it.

The horror. Clearly deserving of death, for the unimaginable crime of making you wear a mask during a world wide pandemic.

Then, I guess Donald should have no security, post-Presidency. George certainly did not.

Right? Why do they pretend this hasnothing to do with retribution or partisanship?

Either they are stupid or they think we are.

He pulled the mask down for a few minutes to drink water. He was outdoors. The people next to him were his wife and a close friend. So FO with that BS.
