I agree, but the lab-grown industry is just accelerating a trend. Natural diamonds were NEVER good investments. They were always emotional purchases that could never recoup on resale. |
So the value of the stone is how long it took to make it? Not the shiny, shiny sparkles? So you're okay with a crappy cut, loads of inclusions, and a cloudy yellow color if it's a mined diamond? You'd wear that proudly? |
Can you share your sources for this? Would love to know more! |
I think that is what PP was implying. Gold has increased in value significantly in the past 30 years. At Indian stores, items are priced based on weight with a small markup for design. |
You can't look at Jane and tell me she's not worth 2 months' salary. Isn’t two months salary enough for a lifetime of happiness? Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Sorry your about your engagement, OP. |
Wtf, learn to google. A million articles on this. |
| They are so done, same with gold. Would have never even crossed my mind to want jewelry when there's so many other things to do with the money. |
Me too. I'll never tell. He was a poor student then an I think the jeweler ripped him off, but he moonlighted at the post office to pay for it, so it's more valuable to me than the stone is worth. |
NP here - GIA has the tool. Why don't you just go to any certified gemologist? They will tell you for free. |
| Is Brillianr Earth a legitimate site for lab and natural diamonds? I am getting tons of social media ads and things look so pretty. |
|
Yes but anecdotally I've heard James Allen is better. My wife's engagement ring is from there and we had a great experience. |
This. No one in my social circle assumes that your diamond is a lab. If that's what you want, fine, but I would not buy one. Natural diamonds are the status symbol now. |
This. Get a small one. The huge gaudy ones from china and India look like they are from Claire’s. If you don’t care, don’t care. If you do, just get an antique. Mined diamonds that are already out there are more ethical than mining or the massive chemical output from these labs. Get an old one. Far more chic anyway. |
I don't get this logic. Diamonds from China or India not ok but diamonds from Botswana or Zimbabwe ok? |
