And I don't get paid time off or able to reschedule work meetings based on a last minute whim to reopen the schools on a Friday for a short day.

I wouldn't be posting if this was a one-off type of thing that happens when kids get sick, travel, etc. This is a problem affecting many people today, and some schools are affected more than others depending if they are in the plowed/unplowed areas and/or serve majority of plowed/unplowed neighborhoods. I don't do the spa or pilates, but that does sound nice! This week I had a work trip, shoveled snow, managed kids at home, worked full time, made dinner, did 1000 loads of laundry, drove my kids to lessons, and about 100 other things, just like every other parent in this county who deals with school closures or delays, or anything else unexpected that arises.

You say "It's not about ME" but then complain that a delay was inconvenient to your personal schedule. Those don't jibe.

Outside of illness, there is no possible reason you couldn't send your kids to school today. The world is open. It's too bad your kids are missing out because of you.
