Good lord! Impressive stats, PP. Williams' loss for sure. |
??? They are fantastic schools, and this board could use some positivity. I don't subscribe to the inane belief of a rigid collegiate hierarchy. I work at a university that is consistently ranked worse than all three schools. Yet, we produce great outcomes for our students, much like W&M, GMU, and Georgetown. This forum exists in a weird bubble, and people here love to wallow in the narcissism of small differences. |
Ummm, maybe it was the school that PP's DC liked best |
Congratulations! Great school |

Admit to top 10 school
4.4 unweighted gpa One AP Test optional— did not submit scores Strong EC Excellent essays that showed exactly why X school Very good recommendations |
It's good to hear these stories of setbacks and things working put in the end. It's been a stressful process |
Fantastic! |
+1 High stats DC is a first year and loves it. |
Diversity? |
Cisgender straight white male No hooks Just took it really seriously and it showed. |
Don’t most of us take it seriously? Also, test optional sounds much less serious to me than most |
Perhaps I should say that a) everything he did for school and EC came from a genuine inherent desire and had zero to do with thinking about if it would help him with college. That came through clearly in his essays. And b) college counseling office was clear that with the grades and EC, testing couldn’t help or hurt him. So why stress? They were right. |
Could you share an example of why X school? |
Np. It needs to be so unique it could never be written about another college. Each essay should take a ton of time to research and customize. Then create a unique one-of-a-kind framework. My DD showed me hers today for a T10 - blew me away. So much thought, research and storytelling tied into her own interests. Beautifully beautifully done. Not sure it will move the needle but if given the shot, take the shot. |
Seriously that college must be idiotic. It isn’t Princeton; there’s no reason that student didn’t get in. |
