Having alumni parents?

Not a hook for UVA. They don’t have legacy preference

Oh they totally do! Ask me how my kid knows (5th gen UVA)

Nope - you have no idea what you are talking about. She is in!

You could make up literally anything (if you are even that poster) and you also never answered if the score was submitted and if the applicant was URM/FirstGen/hooked in any way. Very telling.

I think that is actually the point? The OP expects to make some spreadsheet or database predictor based on the answers here. There are far too many variables, and the exercise is pointless.

This (2024) is the first season without legacy preference. Your kid may have received it but it's no more.

I guess we will see won't we. I have an 10th grader with their eyes on UVA.

Of course scores will drop.

+2 25%-75% score averages will drop if TO is dropped. Some posters are so delusional.

It’s impossible for them not to.

Well there is an “optional” essay in the app this year asking the kid if they have a connection to UVA… seems maybe against the law that was just passed?

Op here
To a pp, I am not really making chart to see things, just getting a feel for admitted students’ credentials.

My ds is a Junior, his 5 core AP classes this year’s rigor is very heavy with tough AP classes in Sciences and Maths, in the mid 1400s for SAT taken twice, has been in Track ( now Varsity) since freshman year. Took 3 years of a foreign language.

Does nothing else other than a club here and there; well, he is in the Science Olympiad this year.
This is the part thats the “issue” I assume , he doesn't do anything else.

Thats it. Goes to base school and a stem magnet.

Just wondering how he will fare when the time comes; looking at the trend in these statistics.

Does he have APs in all core classes or just in science/math? Your post is unclear and that’s a big difference.

Youngkin signed a bill into effect in early March 2024 forbidding ALL VA public schools from looking at Legacy. UVA immediately dropped it.
