You'll know once he takes the SAT, because if he scores in the 99th percentile on that it will change his options. Weird question without it tbh. |
Wtf? What was the major? My kid did last year as well as two Ivies (unhooked) |
My DS had this exact GPA and SAT score from Langley HS. My nephew had 4.1 GPA with 1490 from South County in FCPS and he got accepted into UVA for CS. Both my DS and nephew were members of the school varsity tennis team as EC. |
Yeah. That was a strange response. My son is at an Ivy this year and got into multiple T10s/T20s unhooked from his religious private HS. The kids do really, really well. |
VT puts a lot of weight on their 4 short answer essays. Their admissions may appear "inconsistent" if you are only considering GPA and test scores. Your son probably did not answer their questions well enough (according to their standards). But whatever. I'm glad he is thriving elsewhere. |
100% of the kids in this forum have 4.4 GPA, 1550+SAT, 35 ACT, 10 AP courses, multiple ECs, club leaders, etc... You can't make this sh_t up. |
| My kid had lower GPA and same SAT and got into all the big state schools in Virginia except UVA that he didn't apply. Is it the major? I think some majors are very competitive. Others not really. |
What major did your child apply for? |

Sounds like a bore

Our government should hire Americans preferentially and UVA should take Virginia residents preferentially. The whole world is flooding here because we used to have it right. Now it's changing. It's not racist because there are many people from all backgrounds in VA and in America that are not being prioritized and should be. |
It adds value to that particular school not to Americans or American society. We need to cater to our own people. |
Universities don't really care between 1500 and 1600. Smart choice IMO. |
Lol!!! I'm in total agreement that people cheat and I AM ASIAN. |
Not at private schools. And at state schools, they pay OOS tuition just like anyone from "out of state". |
Some schools have international rates or an international surcharge. Purdue is one example. |
