Honestly speaking, I would pick any other club even an ECNL club over SYC.
This season, DCU picked up the following for their 2011 group. I am sure there were more but these are the ones I know. 5 from VDA to DCU 2 from Arlington to DCU 1 from Alexandria to DCU 0 from SYC

5 players from any one club to a professional academy is a lot Their old team must have been exceptionally dominant last year |
I think the max they can take from 1 team is 3 |
Not necessarily. My kid has been "watch listed" meaning they've asked for his schedule and went to his games. But, did not receive an invite to join the club at this point. No idea if he's on the territory list. |

This is an unpopular opinion but if my DS makes an MLS academy or go pro or play in college, we will absolutely credit the clubs he’s been in. They’ve all been instrumental in giving him the development and environment he needed at those times. And I would do it publicly on social media so they’ll feel comfortable taking some credit for his development.

NP here. I mean, good for them. Every parent has to do whatever they think is best for their kids. Paragon is not MLS Next so I assume the family wanted to move to the MLS Next league and moved over to SYC. |
In MLS terms, being watch-listed means, "We don't want you, but we'll prevent you from going anywhere else." |
That’s what I figured the protected list (which I think also includes kids who left DCU on their own accord) is. I don’t think it’s legally enforceable to be honest. |
You can check out VDA's IG page, there is a post about it. I am not sure if there is a max number or maybe some are part time players? Regardless, this is a big accomplishment for VDA.

I would agree. However, SYC did not develop these players.
|
I agree VDA is top level |
This is what baffles me about SYC. They said they have good players and develop them, supports their players but not able to place any players for 2011 and little to no one in the other age groups with DCU. They have good players and the conclusion that makes any sense is SYC is not advocating for their players and potentially blocking them from being picked up. |
Sure, I don’t think DS clubs will claim that they developed DS. Only that they had a part in his development. |
Do coaches even have a say? Do they usually reach out to the scout and tell them there's a kid he should look at??? Not just SYC, any club. |
Doesn't make sense to me. SYC historically doesn't have a good relationship with DCU. There are better clubs to join if the goal was to try and get into DCU, mostly ECNL teams. |
