Both of my DD's sports (softball, gymnastics) have a few kids every year who get preferential admissions at ivies and full FA because they're under the parent income threshold. I think that parents misunderstand the process if they've spent a lot of time around kids who are getting actual full ride athletic scholarships and truly believe their kids are getting a "full athletic scholarship." And then they broadcast it on instagram.
I don't argue because people who don't understand the difference between athletic scholarships and financial aid are probably not going to be receptive to whatever corrections I'd like to suggest. |
NP. They can certainly give you extremely significant merit aid. My kid was awarded enough in merit aid that the private D3 was cheaper than instate. |
There is a shockingly high amount of surgeons who were college athletes. You obviously don’t know much about surgeons. |
| Travel sports parents lie because they can’t come to terms with the last decade of carting their kids around was a complete waste. |
I absolutely think it’s this. 100%. |
Nope. Anything >/= 30 ACT will move the needle. |
I mean, I have the admissions letters with the actual costs that are significantly cheaper than public in-state but okay. |
What? This is a stupid response that makes zero sense. Not PP. |

I'm sorry that your child was too stupid to be able to handle an undergraduate premed course load and also play a sport. It will be ironic if your cardiologist son dies of a heart attack because they are so busy trying to keep up with the academics that can't take care of their physical health. |
Significantly cheaper than community college too (excluding dorm, of course)? Like for like comparison. |
Gymnastics at an Ivy? What makes you believe that they got preferential sports admission? |
Why do you care? This seems like a MYOB scenario. |
This. She sounds unhinged. |
. I’d love to meet you guys who throw out “unhinged” when an OP describes something she’s curious about. You guys must think everyone is unhinged - and you’re probably insanely boring to boot. |
