It's not a very high bar to seem smarter than Bowser.

Unfortunately, Ms. Albert assumed her DC position under a cloud. There's substantial criticism of her immediately-prior role with the GSA. She stands accused as a GSA official of ignoring the established process and findings of an FBI site selection committee and putting her thumb on the scale for a Greenbelt site owned by Metro, where she previously worked.

There's no cloud. She is not a Bowser flunky. Her reputation speaks for itself. She worked for Metro but lives in DC. She doesn't have a dog in that hunt.

VA is just mad. Can't they just be happy with the Wizards?

Too bad that Bowser didn't try harder to get the FBI to stay in DC. Her concept of the DC economy seems to revolve around more condos and baristas, rather than keeping the big employers that we have. Belatedly she's panicked about the Caps and Wizards and demanding that Biden order federal workers back to their offices all the time.

This is absolutely true. She doesn't get how hard it is to operate a business here.

The huge rents, smashed storefronts and theft can't be that enticing to a business owner. This sucks. As a DC resident I want businesses I can walk to, I feel for them and also understand completely if they up and move. I want to!

Bowser needs MPD to step up.

The activists don’t want them to stop suspects.
The Council made pursuits all but illegal.
Racine and Schwalb have gutted juvenile justice.
The USAO won’t prosecute the most serious cases.
The Superior Court and Court of Appeals benches are stacked with former PDS attorneys.
And after Allen and the Council stopped hiring, there are 500 fewer officers now than there were going into 2020.

The violence interrupters are going to have to step up.

They want a more secure campus. FBI said years ago it was not interested in staying in DC because of the lack of available and developable property for such a project.

You are seriously clueless about this story. I suggest you read up on it before you continue polluting this thread with your nonsense.

Also FBI doesn’t really work from home as much as other agencies

Bowser didn’t particularly want the FBI to stay. Suburban brown-bagging square federal agents did not fit in her vison for a “vibrant” urbanist DC. Of course, now that the downtown economy is flatlining she is begging Biden to force the federal workforce to commute full time.

This is true. Bowser took for granted that there would always be interest in downtown, big and small tenants pushing past each other to be there. It's like she never saw downtown pre tony williams when NO ONE wanted to be there. She fell for the vibrant GGW garbage. How shortsighted.

This is complete nonsense. The FBI wasn't interested in returning to DC because the District didn't have a large enough parcel of land to provided the secure facility the agency wanted. I hate the mayor, but stop lying.

And her team is blaming telework for the high cost of District government by blaming telework for why older workers are not retiring. They might not be retiring as quickly because with inflation their retirement accounts and potential social security payments aren't enough to live on.

Robert White and Trayon White would have been worse. Sadly, no viable alternatives that would be better re: crime and other pressing issues.

What makes her think we aren't going to brown bag it if we are forced to come into the city more? I'm not all that interested in paying $20 for a half-assed subpar sandwich or salad. Nor $26 to park. If we did that every work day it's $12,000. Sorry Muriel, they don't pay feds enough for that.

I agree. She has no competition and is the best choice like it or not. I don’t see her leaving anytime soon.

Congratulations, shitbag suburban DC government employees! "It's not my responsibility to support shltty DC businesses." Another long time local business stabbed in the back by your laziness. You are replacable. I wish you immediate and long lasting unemployment.

Also, moron, do you think MD/VA SUBURBANITES should be responsible for keeping a DC pub alive? Do you think people in Maryland and DC are saying, “oh, wait, let me go hang out at the pub after I get off work?” in your crime ridden city instead of hopping on the metro and heading home to their families? You’re dumb.

Agreed, but the real problem is not Bowser, it's her party.

Muriel Bowser is a great argument against statehood.
