Muriel Bowser bad for DC

It's not a very high bar to seem smarter than Bowser.

Unfortunately, Ms. Albert assumed her DC position under a cloud. There's substantial criticism of her immediately-prior role with the GSA. She stands accused as a GSA official of ignoring the established process and findings of an FBI site selection committee and putting her thumb on the scale for a Greenbelt site owned by Metro, where she previously worked.

There's no cloud. She is not a Bowser flunky. Her reputation speaks for itself. She worked for Metro but lives in DC. She doesn't have a dog in that hunt.

VA is just mad. Can't they just be happy with the Wizards?

Too bad that Bowser didn't try harder to get the FBI to stay in DC. Her concept of the DC economy seems to revolve around more condos and baristas, rather than keeping the big employers that we have. Belatedly she's panicked about the Caps and Wizards and demanding that Biden order federal workers back to their offices all the time.

DC has been developer friendly, but unfriendly to businesses that would fill buildings--at least the bottom level if condos up top. It IS weird.

This is absolutely true. She doesn't get how hard it is to operate a business here.

Bowser is like a substitute teacher the school thought was terrible but never got around to replacing.

The huge rents, smashed storefronts and theft can't be that enticing to a business owner. This sucks. As a DC resident I want businesses I can walk to, I feel for them and also understand completely if they up and move. I want to!

Barry was a corrupt scumbag but actually did things for his constituents. God bless him, he gave me an effing trash can on wheels.

DC is a $hithole. Plain and simple. So glad $750,000 went to repainting BLM Way - a racist crazy left wing political movement. No different than if they painted in MAGA Way.

At the Gallery Place task force kick-off, she kept circling back to the key issue. We need to make the city safe again if we expect people to visit and invest. So simple but so true. Tonight she listened and supported residents trying to block a cannabis shop from opening across the street from two schools!

I don’t get the love for Pinto. I’m not saying she’s horrible but I think she comes across as competent and tough on crime only in contrast to the other councilmembers. The bar is pretty low for that group. I’ve reached out to Pinto’s office 3-4 times about things—including most recently the cannabis shop you mention (an ANC meeting that she couldn’t even bother to attend in person so she joined by zoom from a mile away). I’ve never received a response from her office. Never. Don’t even get me started on her “crime walks.” She is Racine’s protege so how tough on crime is she really? And for a city that’s so quick to call out transplants, she has literally been here for what, 5 years? Doesn’t anyone recall the carpetbagger complaints about her? I agree that she’s not as bad as some of the others on the council, but I’m not sold on believing she’s the next big thing.

FBI didn't want to be in DC because it couldn't get a large enough parcel of land to satisfy it. They cover this in FBI HQ Saga 101.

Someone/something told them to hold back during the riots. And when they did intervene lightly like steering the crowd in Adams Morgan, all the ACLU types freaked. Mind you, these were not permitted protests--they were large informal gatherings that sometimes turned into rampages, pillaging, looting. They can't help us if we won't help ourselves by deciding what we want. You can't have it all.

You think the federal investigation will exonerate her?
