Mayor Eric Adams - recipient of foreign donations/influence?

NEW YORK — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has called on Mayor Eric Adams to resign amid a flurry of federal investigations and resignations that have embroiled New York City Hall.

The announcement makes Ocasio-Cortez the first member of congress to call for the mayor’s resignation. Seven other city and state lawmakers from New York have called for Adams to step down.

Almost all the elected officials calling for Adams’ resignation, including Ocasio-Cortez, are supported by the Democratic Socialists of America. Adams has often used socialists as a political foil, to emphasize his own brand of politics.

“For anyone who self-righteously claims people charged with serious crimes should not be in jail to now say that the second Black mayor of New York should resign because of rumors and innuendo — without even a single charge being filed — is the height of hypocrisy,” Adams said in a statement, referencing Ocasio-Cortez’s support of controversial bail reform in the state. “I am leading this city to protect it from exactly that kind of phony politics. The people of this city elected me to fight for them, and I will stay and fight no matter what.”

Coincidence? The Democratic Socialists suddenly get a conscience about Adams?

If you actually live in NYC and you're defending him, there's something wrong with you. There is no way in hell you could make excuses for what he has done. You're being ridiculous watching what's going on and thinking he was do anything to even alleviate the problems. Where do you live that you can tell yourself he's been good for the city?

+1 He was shady AF before and immediately starting after he was elected. It has nothing to do with anything he said about migrants.

Politico should know that the DSA pulled their support of AOC.

Do you understand that up until he showed he couldn't handle the migrant situation, he bragged about NYC being a sanctuary city? He opened his mouth and puffed out his chest and acted like we could handle it here in NYC. He's now acting like the migrant situation wasn't enabled by his stupid a$$ saying NY could handle it before he clearly couldn't. I blame Biden-Harris. I also blame Adams. I also blame another NY: TRUMP, for being his usual, spoiled, attention-wh0re self by stopping whatever efforts in Congress could've been made via a bill which was supported by conservatives. F the lot of them!

Stop trying to tell NY why Adams is being indicted. The level of corruption was so obscene, there was no way he could stay.

That’s what NYC voters voted for. They got what they wanted.

On October 31, 2017, the New York City Council passed Intro 1568-2017, establishing that no New York City resources can be used for federal immigration enforcement purposes. While New York City already had one of the strongest sanctuary laws in the country, immigrant-led groups like CPD's partner Make the Road New York (MRNY) have continuously pushed to limit local cooperation with the federal government’s mass deportation agenda to the maximum extent possible. The new legislation makes it illegal for the NYPD, or any city agency, to engage in, or assist federal authorities with, immigration enforcement.

Last March CPD, in partnership with Local Progress, hosted a convening in New York City for local elected officials working to expand sanctuary policies across the country. At that convening, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito previewed New York City's plans to go even further to limit cooperation with ICE, and issued a call to other elected officials to stand in solidarity with immigrant communities. Since then, dozens of municipalities have taken additional steps to enact local laws and policies that will protect their immigrant residents from rampant immigration enforcement. CPD's sanctuary cities toolkit: "Protecting Immigrant Communities: Municipal Policy to Confront Mass Deportation and Criminalization," has helped to inform many of these efforts. The passage of Intro 1568-2017 is an especially important victory for New York City's immigrant communities because it comes at a times when cities that try to protect their immigrant residents are under attack by the Trump administration, which has threatened to deny funding to sanctuary cities, and to ramp up enforcement efforts in any city that refuses to facilitate unjust deportations.

But you don’t know what he is being charged with. What overwhelming corruption is causing him to be indicted by the Feds?

You think that didn't piss us off, too? He and his corrupt wife should've absolutely had their feet held to the fire for that. I think we were just so relieved to finally be rid of him. We didn't think it could worse than him.

He didn’t speak out about illegal immigration destroying NYC so he was ok. His corruption totaling almost a billion dollars was ignored.

You think he was not held accountable because you wanted him to just go away with his $850 million taxpayer dollars?

I already explained what a hypocrite Adams is on the migrant thing. HE said it himself "We're a sanctuary city." He embraced that BS and when he couldn't handle it, that's when he opened his mouth. He's not innocent when it comes to the migrant crisis, so don't treat him like it was thrust upon him without notice. He knew what was coming and acted all arrogant about how NYC could handle it, no big deal. He's not a victim. He helped create the migrant mess.
