Has anyone heard of this university in DC? Frankly it sounds like a front for the Turkish government to get student visas for its citizens/operatives.

Investigators specified documents relating to Bay Atlantic University, a tiny Turkish-owned institution that opened in Washington, D.C., in 2014. The following year, Mr. Adams visited one of the school’s sister universities in Istanbul, where he was given various certificates and was told that a scholarship would be created in his name.

I’ve lived in DC for 15 years and never heard of this school. It sounds fake.

The timing is interesting. The same day that Adams was going to meet with members of the Biden admin regarding immigration - an issue Adams has criticized this administration about - the FBI conducts a raid. Could be just coincidence.

The FBI seized iPhones, laptops, paperwork and a manila folder labeled 'Eric Adams' from the home of the mayor's top fundraiser, it has emerged. The Brooklyn house was raided on Thursday morning as part of an investigation into an alleged kickback scheme involving the Turkish government, a university in Washington DC, and a Brooklyn construction company.

They also took seven 'contribution card binders'. The search warrant, the paper said, sought financial records for Suggs, 25, and any entity controlled or associated with her; and documents related to contributions to the mayor's 2021 campaign. The agents also wanted records of travel to Turkey by any employee, officer or associate of the campaign; and documents related to interactions between the campaign and the government of Turkey, 'including persons acting at the behest of the Turkish government.' The team were looking for documents relating to Bay Atlantic University, a small Turkish-owned institution that opened in Washington DC in 2014.

I'd love to know how a then-23 year-old woman raised many millions for Adams. She surely has a deep bench of contacts in the business and financial worlds at the ripe age of.....23.

Clearly, you don’t understand how connections work. It’s entirely possible she has an extensive rolodex if she comes from a certain kind of family. When I was an associate at a v5 law firm, each summer and fall would bring new classes in which there would be least two or three associates whose behinds partners would line up to kiss. The associates typically had mediocre work product and insufferable or standoffish attitudes. It took me years to figure out the partners’ solicitousness because of who these associates’ parents were and where these associates were guaranteed to end up.

It’s going to be very hard for Adams to say “The 23 year-old did it!”

Fundraisers get a percent of what they bring. Seems like a very easy job you’d give to someone very, very close to you. I wonder why he picked this very young woman for such a cush job?
