I bring layers for the plane. I would rather be a little cold than broiling hot in a stuffy plane, personally, if I had to choose.

The one I just got off was miserably hot. I usually run cold and bring layers for it but even I was hot. It was awful.

I personality find shorts uncomfortable for sitting long periods of time, plus I get cold on planes. So I always wear long pants with a t shirt plus long sleeved layer. But DH & kids often wear shorts and are perfectly comfortable. I don't think it's weird, just different from what I like.
