I’m a democrat that isn’t crazy about catch and release.
But immigration isn’t a big issue for me.
What do republicans want to replace it with?
Also: why did Biden stop the stay in Mexico policy? Was is working?
Anyone here work in that space and can speak to this?
Biden hasn’t invited anyone here, but they are coming. I assumed the reason it stopped during the Trump years was because they were taking children away. If you are willing to hurt children, people won’t come.

It's pretty clear what Biden did re border. Nothing.

Biden's admin told border guards not to do anything, they stopped the border guards from proactively blocking migrants and they prevented Texas from doing anything. They let in the mass hordes of migrants. That is exactly what they did. They did not send in extra guards or build extra infrastructure or anything meaningful. Inaction is just as powerful as action.

It's no secret in DC that the Biden administration wanted the migrants because they weren't bothered by a few million illegal immigrants and saw it as a good thing for the labor markets. Why are people pretending there was nothing Biden could do? Of course he could have done a lot with the entire resources of the US government and army at his disposal. But he chose not to. On purpose.

He may be jumbling, but he was clear when he said, ‘If you want to flee and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come.“ People from all over the world heard him. So did the cartels. And, they answered. You also need to be reminded that he promised not to deport anyone his first 100 days. The migrants heard that too.
And, it is no secret that over 90% of the people he has let in do not qualify, but that is not stopping this administration from reaching their goal of bringing in millions of migrants.
What specifically has he done to stop the flow of illegal migrants into our country? Nothing.

If it takes a few years to go to before an immigration judge, and you're released in the meantime, and can easily disappear before the hearing, does it matter if you qualify?

South Americans and people from the Guatemala and El Salvador have learned to claim asylum. It doesn't matter if they are qualified or not, just that they make the claim

We should be imposing heavy fines on anyone who employes illegal immigrants. We should also be letting more people in legally. This is the generally recommended policy, yet neither major party is proposing it.
