Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
+1, mask weren't the reason children weren’t developing socially. |
| You don't say anything treat it like the cold. Because it is the cold. |
Probably none |
Is that the new criteria to determine if we should have a child who is COVID-positive stay home for the day (or go to school masked). No, it’s not. |
Ok, perhaps, but you (or some other pp) is bringing up missing days due to a family member being sick when that’s not what the posts were saying. People have said they’ve been out for various lengths and various reasons. Nobody in this thread has said you shouldn’t take off because your kids get sick too. An individual teacher isn’t missing 5 days just for the sake of quarantining when they feel ok. Here’s a scenario: Ms. Smith has a 100.3 fever on Thursday morning. Maybe it’s Covid maybe not. She takes the day off. Overnight her fever breaks and she stays home again on Friday. She continues to feel better over the weekend and on Sunday decides she will go in on Monday, maybe wearing a mask. She’s been fever free for over 72 hours. That’s what most people are doing. If she stayed home for 5 days she wouldn’t go back to work until Wednesday or Thursday. |
We have a winner. Endemic just like the cold. Treat it as such and move on. |
| If our society just masked when you're sick, we'd all be better off. I don't want your grimy cold or corona viruses on me or in my air. Thanks |
You are free to mask ALL the time. |
If she stayed home for 5 days she would go back Tuesday. Thurs-Monday is 5 days. |
Agree. This is common practice in Asian cultures. If you are sick and need to be out and about mask until better. I wish this was more of a norm here. |
+1 Along with not sending obviously sick kids to school. |
No one cares anymore. Yell about the dead until your clue in the face. What’s done is done. |
This is not a rational or scientific response. |

Uh, you guys want your kids to catch these mild colds like covid and basic childhood infections like strep or viruses.
This is how their bodies build a robust immune system. Putting them in a masked isolated bubble so they don't catch a cold, which covid now is, does a huge disservice to your kids long term health and well being. |
+1. Don't upend the other students in her class by making them "exposures", or in the case in one MCPS school, forcing them to mask. |
