FCPS Covid policy? daughter just tested postive

They are just recommendations; the 5-day isolation and masking for another 5 days beyond that is not required. Most parents I know are (correctly, in my opinion) treating Covid-19 as just another virus -- kid stays home from school if they have a fever or intense cold symptoms; kid returns to school when fever is gone and they are feeling better.

2 weeks? Try again. Most teachers will come back after 5 days if symptoms are improving; maybe even less if they can’t find subs.

1/2 dozen kids in each class have it with no symptoms, so no testing walking around passing it on. The nature of an endemic virus.

Nowhere does OP affirm that this is Covid.

I would not test, nor would I keep my child at home unless it got a lot worse than OP describes

You're awful.

They should stay home until at least day 6, but if you don’t keep her home at least have her mask for a few days.

How do you know the teacher will get it from a kid at school and not at a store, a restaurant, they gym, a plane, a spouse, etc.? Unless teachers are isolating themselves in a bubble that only leave to go to school, we can’t assume students are the ones getting them sick. We can’t go back to that paranoia that placed the blame on students as the only pathogen carriers.

It says recommendation.

+1. This is the most contagious strain yet and we heard this with previous strains too so it's really contagious. Many people aren't even testing and then there are plenty of asymptomatic carriers. Would you rather get it over with now or in a week or 2 weeks? There are plenty of people walking around spreading it who don't even know they have it.

The person isn’t “awful”. No fever, no sneezing and rarely coughing? We wouldn’t consider testing either.

Why did you put "Covid" in quotes? Did you test? If you tested, why did you?

My daughter tested positive last Monday. I kept her home all week. She goes back tomorrow, masked through Wednesday (day 10). Please be responsible. I'm sure my DD caught it from a kid whose parents just sent them to school anyway.

The quarantine has not been 10 days for a very long time now.

This literally happened to us last year. Vaccinated teacher was out for three months due to post Covid complications.
