What is the policy? Can I send a kid in who seems like she just has a mild cold. No fever. No sneezing. Rarely coughs. Just congested and a little tired.

My daughter tested positive last Monday. I kept her home all week. She goes back tomorrow, masked through Wednesday (day 10). Please be responsible. I'm sure my DD caught it from a kid whose parents just sent them to school anyway.

Can someone link to the policy? Last year when my kids had Covid the school was calling me eager to get them back even though I was following policy. I don't even know what the policy is now.

Is your google broken? Scroll halfway down. https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/health-and-safety-guidance-document

Follow cdc guidance of 5 days isolation and then mask for days 6-10. Call in sick as normal.

Students who tested positive or have been diagnosed with COVID-19
FCPS does not require return to school documentation for students who are called in absent with COVID-like symptoms/illness. Refer to FCPS Attendance Guidance for more information.

FCPS will align with the isolation timeline recommended by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Recommendations for your child to return to in-person instruction and activities, including athletics, are as follows:
Student has completed at least five days of isolation; AND
Student is fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication; AND
Student’s symptoms have improved or resolved
Student wears a well-fitting mask for 5 additional days (day 6 through day 10) after the end of the 5-day isolation period, in accordance with VDH guidance OR

For students who are unable/unwilling to mask for days 6-10, CDC recommends two negative rapid antigen tests (includes home test) on or after day 6 performed 48 hours apart. The first test can be administered on or after day 6. If you do not have access to a rapid antigen test kit for this purpose, you may contact your school site. FCPS does not require a negative test to return.

If you have questions about COVID-19, contact your medical provider or refer to the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) or Virginia Department of Health websites for more information.

Is that a "recommendation" or requirement?

My child had a Covid like illness and I didn’t even bother testing. There was no fever. Missed two days of school but went back when symptoms improved.

We are all going to get it regardless. It know at least 6 people with it now. I'd rather my kids get it before the school year ramps up and we would skip the booster.

Why would you test your kid? What's the benefit? Mine stayed home for a day, probably just allergies.

The benefit is we will definitely skip the booster shot.

We are skipping it no matter what, regardless of whether we test. No benefit to testing yourself other than personal info for yourself.

You're awful.

Can’t wait for the “the teacher has been out so much, my child isn’t learning!” posts, after the teacher gets Covid from a kid who came to school with it, then their own kids get it, and the next thing you know, the teacher is out for 2 weeks straight. Yay.
