| My friend is sick. He reads books and watches tv. |
| As useful to society as a lap cat. |
Do you live on your passive income from your stock portfolio? |
| I contribute to society by staying home. One less car in the commuter traffic. You're welcome. |
Ongoing anonymous group therapy /fantasy writing. It’s not easy. |
Useless, though. |
|
Yes, those of you “contributing” to society have made such a lovely wonderful place for everyone to live.
Honestly, you all suck. Your jobs suck and you exist to make the rich richer. Congrats. |

My mother did a whole lot of nothing. Made breakfast then took it to bed and watched morning talk shows, napped, then watched soap operas in the afternoon during which she at some point moved to the couch and ate again, then flowed into talk shows, then ate dinner, sometimes she'd clean up from dinner, then watch tv.
The two times I had friends over in HS she was in her nightgown and bathrobe. So embarrassing. |
DH’s mom too, except the bathrobe part (that I know of). Never paid attention to the kids, in her own world. Tv on all day - utterly depressing. |
They actually perform a social service (i.e., providing love and comfort, often to someone who lives alone) |
I don't think I was, particularly or moreso than most people are. And my sibling who was raised the same as I was isn't like this. My mom didn't do much and always seemed sad to me, so maybe that is why I feel uncomfortable with too much free time - like it might make me start getting sad like her, which then causes me to be more melancholic. But my brother doesn't view her the same way I do at all. What it boils down to is that if I stay busy with my job and my kids and my house and hobbies and community groups and what not, I'm pretty happy. But if I have unstructured unscheduled time in too large a quantity, I start questioning the meaning of life ;P I wish I believed in God, I think that would help. |
Nothing wrong with that. |
She sounds like she had a severe mental illness. I’m sorry. |
| I wish the MAGAs would stop contributing to society. Same with trump |
| If I had a spouse that contributed nothing or almost nothing, barring real physical illness, I would seriously question why I grind 9-5 for someone completely ungrateful. I would probably take on quite a few young APs. |
