| It’s extremely annoying |
Definitely better than the conga line! |
| Curious if ad revenue declined with the change up from the classic format? Seems that there is less ads and more white space that could be utilized. Old format had the perfect balance. |

I didn't see this subforum at first and posted in the college forum asking about the ads, which just showed up for me today. The post was quickly deleted.
It seems like the ads are designed to push it to the limit, see how much traffic falls off, and then reconsider from there, rather than reasonably designing ads from the start. Hey bad ad designers, bye bye. This is not the only forum on the internet. |
| I don’t like it. I especially don’t like I have to delete them if I scroll back up, that it’s been one ad the whole time, and just generally would pay to make this stop. |
i Don’t love the ads, but see the need. Grateful for the no volume (that’d be a dealbreaker). The slowdown of content load and battery drain is an issue for my phone. |
| Just noticed today that these ads are just blocking content as I’m trying to read. Annoying. Please fix. |
| Honestly it’s so annoying & disruptive that it makes me want to close out of DCUM entirely & spend less time on it. Once I close the ad window, then another one pops up as soon as open a new topic/thread. |
If there’s some way to just have the ads be about attractive actors, gif recipes, and cute tiny animals, I will use the site even more. There should just be an Ad forum where people can anonymously watch ad content to generate revenue for the site. |

I usually only use the Original Site and this ad thing that is discussed here does not happen there. Occasionally I'll click on a link that takes me to the new format and that's when big videos wishing Keanu a Happy Birthday! appears and then as I scroll it jumps down to the corner, all of which is annoying.
So, to avoid this, just use the Original Site, the link is at the bottom of the page. |
Yes, exactly. I'll try again in a day or two, but won't regularly be back with these ads. |
Like many others have said you have to do what you have to do, I just wanted to mention that a lot of people may access site from work where ad blockers are employed by no choice of our own. Not saying this to ask you to change your plan (that is out of my lane), just saying that may be part of the problem. |
| And also people should keep in mind the advertisers want us to see the ads so they are going to be inconvenient locations that is the whole point. We must give Jeff some grace here and just understand. |
Also, if we demand a paid site, only 15 or so people would sign up and they would talk to themselves all day, it would be like a reality show no fun. |

I don't mind the ads on the side, or the ads that fall in between posts. However having ads pop up over content while I am reading it is very annoying. I understand ads need to be there but they should not interfere with common sense use of the site.
I just started seeing the pop up ads this weekend...I'm running Chrome on Mac Monterrey if that helps at all. Thanks Jeff. |
