It's a change and it's annoying to have it in the middle of a section of posts, but if that is what it takes to keep the site up so be it. We know you don't run this as a charity.
I count ads as follows: 1 on the top 1 on the left side 2 on the right side 1 in between posts 1 in the lower right corner (video) 2 at the bottom So that's 8 ads per page in total. There's some point between 1 and 1 million where users will turn away due to excessive ads, but I don't know what that number really is as it's not my area of expertise. On the plus side, there are no pop up ads -- those really turn me away quickly. |

| The embedded ones are fine. I do not like the ones you can click out of that are appearing at the bottom right of my screen. |
| I don’t mind the ads. You gotta do what you gotta do. |
Yeah. That’s a huge negative to coming here. |

3. Don’t love them but I like the site and want you to keep it. So, it’s reality.
Separately I wish you had more control over the ads. I don’t use blockers and I appreciate that there don’t appear to be cookies here but many of the ads are for very niche things? I don’t know much about how it works on your end but I’d click more if it weren’t things like Temu. |
Unfortunately we don't have a choice regarding the player. I've been using our testing version of the website for almost a month and I've found that you get used to the player. This one is a lot easier to click to hide than some. |
I’m just getting the same ad over and over and over. It’s about dim, uninspiring rooms and features a mother and daughter who have absolutely no clue how to paint a wall. |
| I don’t mind the embedded ones. But the popup ones that block or cover the screen that I have to click on the right corner to see the site are super annoying. |
| Yikes! The ad placement today is almost unbearable. Large video ad in the middle with a pop up on the bottom right corner. Maybe it’s just bc I’m on an iPad? |
| The one at the top of the screen is awful. I don’t mind the other ones but that one takes up most of the screen on mobile. I know their necessary to keep this site up but I am really frustrated with that one and may resort to an ad blocking browser which I know doesn’t work well for you Jeff |
| It is slowing and lagging the site for me on mobile. It's way too much. |
More to the point, it’s fine if the placement is just fixed in the middle of the forum. When it jumps to the top while I scroll it makes me want to never visit this site again |

The ad between the first few headers in recent and same position in threads would be ok if it remained static. Scrolling up moves the ad out of view. Once out of view it pops down to bottom right. Can everyone confirm this is what they see?
There’s still a lot of white space on left/right sides. Can you fill in that vertical top to bottom? I have looked at test link, yet. Lastly, have you thought about offering premium pay to opt out of ads? Can we register or subscribe for payment but remain anonymous posters? |
I understand your frustration. I would not implement these ads if I had better options available. But, at current rates for display advertising, we cannot sustain the site. My next project will be to block users who use ad blockers. I am not operating a charity. We hope that DCUM provides benefits to our users and, in return, the users have t help us support the site. |
