Video Ads

I’m a little confused because I can’t click through on the video ads. I’m getting an ad that I am actually interested in, with an Indian recipe, and wanted to click through for a website…but I can’t.

I had the same issue. My guess is that video is filler video and not an actual ad. That is probably the entire video and there is nothing to which to click through.

The video box is literally blocking the top so you can't click on the recent topics or anything. So how is one supposed to use the site now if you can't click through the box?

I just came to Website Feedback because the pop up ads in the lower right corner of my desktop are SUPER ANNOYING. As in, I went to enable my adblocker again because they were so annoying, but of course you have the DCUM "please allow ads" pop up, so I can't win. I get that ads are a necessary evil, but these continual popups might be enough for me to leave the site.

This is a valid complaint. I'll look into it.

This happened to me as well. I didn’t retype the note. [/quote]

PP here. I am seeing the reloading a lot now. It used to be down to once a week or so.

I don’t know why quote isn’t working here.

I am going to talk to the vender about this but in the meantime I have to suboptimal work-arounds:

1) Just click the "x" in the pop-up to make it go away. Then you can use the menus.

2) The pop-up appears when the main video window is scrolled off screen. On my phone, it is possible to scroll up enough so that part of th email video and the menus are visible. As long as part of the main video is showing, the pop-up doesn't appear.

I use an ad blocker. I understand the concept of needing to generate revenue. I guess I feel I contribute by posting useful responses and by doing so, contribute to this community and help sustain it.
If users who block ads will be blocked from using this forum, I wouldn’t change my behavior. I’ll find something else to spend time on.

Biden following me around on every page is majorly annoying. And I'm a Democrat who voted for him.

I understand that if you are an entitled person who only cares about yourself why you would choose to use an ad blocker. But, I don't understand why you would bother trying to justify the behavior. You are taking money out of my pocket benefitting from my work. I assume that nobody expects you to work for free, but you have that expectation of me.

Yes, I will do everything possible to block users with ad blockers. I would rather have you leave than to steal from me.

I'm getting pop up 'ads" that start with the sound off. They are in the middle of threads and then pop to the bottom but, I cant click on them and have no idea what they are selling. Just annoying. "Moneytalksnews.com
is up right now.

Mostly this is the expected behavior. The vendor with whom we are working tries to mix non-advertising content with ads. We could provide our own content, but haven't been able to work that out so far. Instead, we are using videos from their library. The "filler" videos are not ads and, therefore, you can click on them and they aren't selling anything. I'm still working with the vendor to refine what is being displayed.

Today I was thinking “why is everyone attaching this picture of Biden?” and then “oh yeah it’s the stupid ad…”

#4 the ads are so big

I find myself skipping visiting the site multiple times a day because I think “ugh I have to deal with the distracting video ad.” They are a giant pain on the phone and take up half the screen.

I can’t be the only one but I suppose if you make more money from the moving ads than you lose from people like me minimizing their visits, that still works out (and frees up more time for me so I suppose win win.)
